Quick reply!

Doug, did you update the forums again recently?

Regardless, I love you. Quick reply is a godsend.

Dale Baldwin 01-11-2006 04:45 AM

I know Doug updated to 3.5.3 of vBulletin a few days ago, but I think quick reply was activated earlier on today/last night.

Dobee 01-11-2006 05:44 AM

what's the difference with quick reply?

Dale Baldwin 01-11-2006 05:55 AM

It's quick! :P

Kolzig 01-11-2006 07:16 AM

The reason why I noticed the forum update a few days ago was because that page icon in the page tabs turned from the earlier yellowish to the cool blue one.

The quick reply is nice, yes. Thanks Doug, again.

Works the same; you just don't have access to all the same functions like smilies, tag buttons, etc.

Intrepid Homoludens 01-11-2006 11:30 AM

Thanks for that convenient feature, doug. http://www.websmileys.com/sm/music/musik37.gif

But I think wot we really need is a 'butt-love-spank-tabs-for-all-his-fine-work' button. You wouldn't be able to sit down for weeks, man.

It's basically hit-and-run but with words.

UPtimist 01-11-2006 12:14 PM

Using the quick reply function, I'll also have to note that there's also a last online ... thing... under the avatar! Interesting...

I think that's a new feature, regardless of whether quick reply was used or not.

I think UPtimist was saying that he had used "quick reply" to post that. :)

;) Did you use quick reply to post this, fov? After all, we need to give tabs a return on his investment.

< realizes he didn't use quick reply to post this reply >

Heh...quick reply was always available, I just didn't really think about it until I happened across the option the other day. The LastOnline thing is a plugin, though, not an actual vB feature.

Would it be better to have a "full stop" rather than a "comma" after the 1st sentence here? :P

UPtimist 01-15-2006 12:28 PM

I have no idea what the confusion is even about, but I guess there's some error in my linguistic skills after all...

"Full stop"? Like... a dot?

AFGNCAAP 01-15-2006 01:30 PM

Yeah, "full stop" = ".". Not that I have any problem with your controversial sentence... :)

Dobee 01-16-2006 05:38 AM

no worry, same for me.

besides the quick reply, i think we all need a grammatical + spell check in these forums :p

Erwin_Br 01-16-2006 10:28 AM

I can't live without SpellBound for FireFox ;)

Filmman 01-17-2006 12:44 PM

HAHAHAHAHAHAH that is funny I do the somthing to Hammerite I just post a Quickreply too

rtrooney 01-17-2006 06:13 PM

I really like "Quick Reply". Am using it now. But it appears that I am unable to edit quick reply messages. Of course I am able to edit normal replies. Am I missing something?

Correction: I can edit this, but there are several messages in the Adventure section that I cannot edit. Still confused.

Yes, you are missing something. You're missing the fact that 'Quick Reply' is exactly that - a quick reply. If you decide to edit quick reply posts or do anything more than whatever few options are available in the 'Quick Reply' window, it wouldn't be a quick reply anymore. :)

There is a tab that says 'Go Advanced'. Click that if you want to do a lot more, which will take more time, and thus not be a quick reply anymore.

Melanie68 01-17-2006 06:21 PM

After so long though (and you may not know this given you've been a mod and mods can always edit I would imagine) but you can't edit your posts after a certain time. I'm not sure how long that lasts but you lose the ability to do that with older posts. I think that's what rtrooney may mean (maybe... :P).

Intrepid Homoludens 01-17-2006 06:23 PM

I'm not on mod status right now so I don't have that option. I have merely the same options and the time frame to use them as you. :)

How old are the messages you're trying to edit? They're probably too old. I'm not sure what the cutoff is, but there is a cutoff, after which messages can't be edited (except by a moderator).

I like the quick reply feature, but a few times I have typed out my reply and then accidentally hit the "post reply" button above the form field (under the last post on the thread) rather than the "post quick reply" button below it. This takes me to the standard reply page and I lose the response I typed out in the quick reply box. :(

Intrepid Homoludens 01-18-2006 12:00 AM

LOL, maybe you shouldn't be so quick in your replies, fov.
