Bots on the forum?

This is probably a stupid question but here goes... I was looking at who was online page and I noticed these names:

Quote:

-Yahoo! Slurp Spider
-Google AdSense Spider
Are these search bots? Just curious.

pcj 01-02-2006 06:47 PM

Yes, they are. :P

tabacco 01-02-2006 09:25 PM

Yep. vBulletin shows friendly names for the various search spiders that hit the site.

Filmman 01-12-2006 06:24 PM

I have a Question what are bots

Intrepid Homoludens 01-12-2006 06:33 PM

:) bots are little crackers made from soy and come in a variety of exotic flavours, and are often enjoyed with hot sake, and they're often given affectionate nicknames depending on the flavour. They're very delicious.

If you were here I'd offer you a bot and a drink.

tabacco 01-12-2006 07:09 PM

Or, in a duller definition, they're the programs search engines use to index web pages.

Filmman 01-12-2006 07:12 PM

oh ok ;)

kasus 01-12-2006 07:18 PM

Karmillo 01-17-2006 10:42 AM

'Slurp Spider' is a pretty nasty name to give a bot...

Filmman 01-17-2006 12:34 PM

Karmillo You are maybe right Slurp Spider bot may be a Bad one we have to take are eye opening for them here ok guys.

tabacco 01-17-2006 01:00 PM

Arg. No! slurp is just Yahoo's spider. None of the spiders vBulletin is identifying are bad in any way. Just ignore them. It is not neccesary to keep an eye open for any bot.

Karmillo is just making fun of the name.

Dale Baldwin 01-17-2006 01:54 PM

The bots don't post anything. Please, for the love of all things chocolatey, IGNORE THEM!
