It may just be me or firefox or something, but none of the buttons in the WYSIWYG editor work for me. They're just unclickable ...

I had the same problem at first (with Firefox), but I just changed a few things in the JavaScript settings (don't ask me what; as far as I can remember, I'm back to where I started) and it worked.

Smashing: Yeah. When you click Edit, instead of loading a new page, your message changes to an edit box in the current page. Then when you click Save it goes back to being your message, only edited. It's way awesome.

(BTW, it all seems to work great in Opera 8.01 )

After the latest Firefox update the buttons in the edit box/new reply started working.

Default Inconvenient Smilies' Insertion

Since the new edit feature is online, smilies are pasted into the text with a trailing blank only, but without the leading blank they used to have. I think that's rather inconvenient.

Apart from that, it's pretty awesome!

I tried "Standard", then "Basic", then "WYSIWYG", and neither of the new edit functions works for me at all.
If my spelling and grammar quality take a nosedive, this will be why.

Oh scott, it's time to trade in that old mac for something a little less stone age.

Or at least upgrade the OS!

But I like the fact that when the power goes out I can still use the hand crank!

OS 9.2.2 is the threshold of the point of diminishing returns. It'll run OS X, but it's not happy about it and it runs OS X dog-slow.

What about a mac mini? $500 and it'll run osx just fine.

Um...they're okay, but for a couple hundred more I could get an eMac with twice as much of everything a Mac Mini has (RAM slots, USB ports, Firewire ports) plus a built-in monitor, a keyboard, and an optical mouse.
Basically, every trip to Reno I take is a new computer I didn't buy, but sooner or later a good eMac (or an even better Mac) will show up at my favorite thrift store for about a tenth of what it cost new, and I'll upgrade then. I have no problem letting someone else eat the depreciation on a new computer.
I do appreciate your helpful suggestion, but not being able to edit posts really isn't that big a deal; It just means I'll have to pay a little bit closer attention to my words before I submit them for public scrutiny.
