Hey, I got a pop-up a few seconds ago. One of these 'fake windows messages' about spyware.

I got one of those annoying "Shoot the Duck!" adverts on the main page today. And then one of those "Your PC is infected with spyware" ones ...

I just got the one about "you've won an Xbox 360" and it's flashing rapidly. This is enough to drive me away - I'm not epileptic, but rapidly flashing lights will give me a migraine.

Makes sense. I switched the site to a new ad system today.

Those fake warning messages about your PC being infected should be gone as of an hour ago. You might still see the occasional "Shoot the [blank]!" ad though. At least they have nice graphics nowadays

The pop-up is a really big deal and I'm going to look at that right now.

Drive you away? Yikes. There are plenty of other things in your life that will give you bigger headaches I'm sure.

Have you ever had a migraine? I don't mean just a bad headache, but a migraine that makes you sensitive to light, nauseated, and feels like your head is in a vise. Oh, and they can last for 18hrs or more. I wasn't exaggerating, honestly. I've gotten them from flickering lights and flashing banner signs like this one was. These are bad enough that you will avoid getting them if you can, and if that meant leaving here, which I don't want to do, I would do it to avoid another one of those. Fortunately, I don't have to - Marek took care of it immediately.

I boxed for several years of my life and ended a while ago due to injury. Due to repeated blows to my head, I have been and continue to suffer from severe headaches, aptly named A-typical Migraines. These headaches make my nose bleed, cause me to pass out, scream and thow my head into corners of walls. So, yes, I do understand headaches--to a minor degree.

Hello. I just got a pop-up - actually more like a roll-up (it rolled across the screen) - from Questmarket.com or something or other, asking me to participate in a questionnaire.

EDIT: It's Questionmarket.com.

More pop-ups!! The same Questionmarket.com one, and now the one from Circuit City.

http://www.proxomitron.info/

a fancy little (and highly customizable) web filtering program. i love it. it cuts out most ads and replaces them with the alt text, and i never get things dancing across my screen. the internet is getting out of control, so i put my foot down.

it's a little more than most people want to do probably, but it also has a convenient 'bypass' switch. i use that when i want to rate netflix movies, and that's pretty much it.

What's this 'alt text'. That mean words dance on your screen instead of images?
