I really would like to see that movie. I've seen the trailer few times and it has the feeling of a good comedy in it.
That has not been the case with Will Ferrell movies recently.

It's not a recent movie, but everyone here should check out Endless Summer II. Doesn't matter if you've seen the first one or not (which you should also see), but it's the best surfing movie ever made.

The Ant Bully WAY too similar to abugs life, and all jokes and themes are for small kids unlike Over the hedge/shrek/other CG films which had some more mature jokes. This movie is great for youngsters and has the best looking CG effects I've seen so far, the textures are so rich.

Walk the Line
Very good movie, and great performances by Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon.

Presumed Innocent
This was the third or fourth time I saw this movie, man I love watching movies that have Harrison Ford or Raul Julia in them and this one has them both!

Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby
Really funny, but not as funny as Anchorman. Sacha Baron Cohen was gold. |

Probably not. It's the same kind of thing as Anchorman, off-the-wall and satirical (both of movie conventions and NASCAR as well as French-homo-phobia), but quite funny. I thought the trailer was pretty funny, so I'm not sure if I'm the best judge...but if you liked Anchorman and the sort of anti-film comedy in it then you'll probably like Talladega, though probably not as much as Anchorman.

I haven't seen Anchorman, but the satire you mentioned seems kind of interesting. I might give it a try.

Miami Vice - standard Michael Mann quality. If you liked Heat, you'll probably like this. The cinematography and sound was quite nice. One downside is that I didn't always know what they were talking about, but I was still able to follow it unlike with Syriana.

Outer Limits S01-S03 - I am a fan of XFiles so I had to love Outer Limits, and so I did. Quite awesome series, well-made, too.
The Black Dahlia trailer Spiwak mentioned in the Now Playing thread looks great, I can't wait to see the movie. |

But I think we're the minority in that. And I don't think being a fan of X-Files means you must be an Outer Limits fan. Um. Even though the same applies to me. ;, Agreed, the two are related, but, well... tons of X-Files fans, few Outer Limits fans? ...that I know of... heh... in fact, you mark the first outside my household... Am I hanging out with the wrong people?

Well, to be perfectly honest, Outer Limits is even better than XFiles, it just lacks some Mulder. I guess the series didn't recieve the promotion they deserved, otherwise there would be far more fans.

My Super Ex Girlfriend--I didn't expect it to be, but it was funnier than Talladega nights.

The Bourne Supremacy (excellent film; love espionage suspense), V For Vendetta (a considerably faithful adaptation of the graphic novel, and a fabulous piece of film) and Back To The Future (as breezy and funny as I remembered, although it has to be said, it's an 80s comedy, and the audience that finds this amusing are now all in their 30s, which is hard for a teen comedy).

There are probably quite a few people in the UK who were fans of both The Outer Limits and The X Files, simply because they were shown in the same slot at different parts of the year. True fact.
That one episode with a newly elected president and an approaching alien race is one of the most compelling pieces of TV drama I've ever seen. Hmmm, you've made me want to see it again now... VCD hunting time. Anyway, if we're cheating and including TV series now: Six Feet Under S5 - approaching the end now, it's just as as usual. I assume series 5 is the final one, as it erm... pretty much seems to have run its course! It's been an excellent series and I've really enjoyed its soapy twists and turns. I don't know how well-received it was in the US (no bugger watched it over here), so I hope HBO have the courage to do something equally high quality. |

Six Feet Under, series 5
Just seen the end of this. An absolutely fantastic conclusion, and not - this might act as a spoiler if you're familiar with my feelings about the series - what I expected. In the end, I'm glad that Channel 4 dropped it and forced me to rent the DVDs, because I couldn't have lived with their ridiculous intrusions. One of the best TV series I've ever seen, even if it was oddly depressing - but not because of the setting - and often frustrating. You've set a precedent now, kuze! I'll probably be posting about The Sopranos next! |
