The movie I saw (re-watched, to be precise) most recently was The Lion King. Laugh all you like I really like that movie for some reason... must be nostalgia.
Before that it was probably Charlie and the Chocolade Factory (me and my friends are huge Tim Burton - and Danny Elfman - fans so we went to see it) before that it was Batman Begin, preceeded by Episode III and before that... Mar Adentro, I think.

Why would anyone laugh? The Lion King is a great movie. I'd say 80% of my DVD collection is animation. Bought Robot's this weekend - weak story, great animation and characterisation. Suffers from a few referential gags that are completely misplaced within the framework of the film and only serve to take you out of it... you'll know them when you see them. Other than that, incredibly beautiful and I didn't expect to like it as much as I did.

Also saw Oldboy last week. Nothing like a clawhammer to the teeth and a man eating a live octopus to warm the heart.

I'm surprised all you breeder guys didn't perk up when I mentioned the graphically photographed Lesbian sex scene in Femme Fatale.

Wassaaatuppwiththathenaye?

Yousaidwhat?

There was a documentary on sex films last night. Turns out they were far more explicit at the beginning of cinema than they are now, as such something like that or 9 Songs wouldn't be sniffed at. Funny how attitudes looped the loop like that.

You should queue up Oldboy. Great, surreal movie with the best fight sequence in years.

My first Disney dvd acquisition was Lion King a couple of months ago, and last week I bought Aladdin.

My two favourite "modern" Disney movies.

I have to admit I'm a bit of a sucker for Lion King, too. Don't hurt me!

I never figured out what it was that made me like The Lion King so much, it must have been all those none too obscure references to Nazi Germany that did me in...

Am I alone in hating the way that Disney have branded "Disney DVD" as if they've come up with some clever new format

When my niece was 2 and a half or 3, every time she saw the Disney logo - she would say - "movie?"

It's a grand conspiracy and yeah, annoying.

I hate the way they've taken up double-dipping. A new 2-disc Lilo and Stitch? I thought they weren't supporting 2D anymore, bastards! And DVD's! They lost so much money on the Treasure Island/Atlantis/Emporers New Groove (great film that - I'm a Kronk fan and he's got a movie coming out!) special ed's they said they'd stop making them. Liars!

Do love the Treasures collection too, even if they're expensive and I only have one. Mickey's second b+w collection. Anyone got the first, PM me. I'll sell my soul!

I'm ashamed to admit, but I haven't seen that many old Disney animated movies yet. I saw some of them when I was very young and I can't remember much about them, though I do remember that I went to see The Fox and the Hound with my mom once. Even though it's weird that the movie was released in 1981, but I must've been at least 5-7 years old when I saw it in the movie theater.

One scene that I remember quite well is the classic spaghetti scene in Lady and the Tramp. That always made me giggle when I was a kid.

Well, you have some catching up to do!!

I found this site that lists all Disney movies (classic and otherwise) and while searching came across this interesting page.

I need to watch more Disney movies. I don't think I've seen one since Toy Story 2, and that was Pixar anyway...

Hehe, I liked this one. Pretty funny, in a very very dark way.

Today I saw "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Winds".

I found a lovely version from the "Studio Ghibli Collection". It had some screenshots printed on high quality photo paper included in the box. A paper CD case it was, too.

I think I am addicted.
