Well Tequila Sunrise is otherwise bad, but RAUL JULIA is in it! So by my logic, the movie must be good.

I saw Nightwatch (Nochnoy dozor) yesterday... it was pretty meh. The effects are good but pointless most of the time and the story is very confusing.

The little SF segment in one of Jackie Chan's movies was better than the whole SF movie.

Is this it?

For a very brief and addled moment, Steve Guttenberg came to mind and I was a little worried for you. Then I realized he was in the Police Academy movies.

That's the one. It's actually like watching an old '80's cop movie with extra class. It's pretty nasty in places too, but has some nice, affecting acting. Great action too, and well filmed. I really recommend it for some proper Chan moviemaking, rather than some of the dross he's been releasing in the states. One fantastic sequence has the actors falling at speed down the side of a skyscraper, which is pretty incredible as it's a physical stunt.

I feel sorry for the actors and actresses in it, as apparently their agent is a real mobster. Word has it he treats them like crap and also makes the females in his employ perform sex acts to him... bastard. Which kind of made it hard to enjoy the movie.

That said, Nicholas Tse is revelation and the baddies are real nasty. It's an action movie with a heart, and I really enjoyed it.

By the beard of Zeus!!!

I just watched a funny movie.

Anchorman is hilarious.

Sweet Lincoln's mullet!!!

Veronica Corningstone: Mr. Harken, this city needs its news. And you are going to deprive them of that because I have breasts? Exquisite breasts? Now, I am gonna going on, and if you want to try and stop me, bring it on. Because I am good at three things: Fighting, screwing, and reading the news. I've already done one of those today, so what's the other one gonna be? Huh?
Ed Harken: ... Screwing?

I had never heard of that series of movies (I Googled to get the IMDB page). Thanks for the info. You, Ninth and Once a Villian should seriously consider having your own permanent thread where you hand out movie advice.

(must get new DVD player )

I actually hate the fact that Street Fighter became Raul Julia's last movie...
He would've deserved so much more.

It would be so great if someone would make a dvd of Raul Julia's The Burning Season tv movie. That was a very touching movie, and Raul Julia's best performance ever in my opinion.

Btw, I just watched Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

The Addams Family was on the TV at the weekend. He was cool in that.

Watched "The Apostle" this weekend for the first time. I liked it a lot even though I had no idea what to expect. It's a great movie that tells the story about a complex character and his relationship to religion without resorting to easy stereotypes.

We also watched "Muriel's Wedding" which, due to extreme stress with work deadlines and in light of my own upcoming wedding, was balm for my soul! It's making me rethink what music we should use for the processional -- maybe a little ABBA is in order.

Yeah, the Police Story series is very good, but the movie with the SF segment is City Hunter, a comedy. It has Jackie Chan dressed as Chun Li, what else could you ask for?

That's right! Is it the one with the skateboarding at the beginning?

Oh, I kind of watched Be Cool today. I was working. The only thing I could remember was The Rock was good as a gay bodyguard and the movie wasn't as bad as they say.

No.

Jackie Chan busts through a glass window onto a freeway if I remember rightly.

I saw most of 2001: A Space Odyssey a couple of days ago.

Now THAT was a disappointment.

I'm going to get flamed now, aren't I?
