Yes, and that's my last name, too (if that little factoid doesn't seal my status as a dyed-in-the-wool redneck, nothing will).
One more reason I dropped out of pre-med: I had no desire to go through life as "Doctor McCoy".

I had said it like "Nie. Hoffe ich." But otherwise, you did fine. I'm sure it's confusing, because the word orders can be very different in both languages. In English, it's *always* subject-predicate-object. In German, it isn't.

So..

You tried to say:

Never. I hope.
Nie. Ich hoffe. (Nobody would say it like this over here, but it's clear where that's coming from.)

It's f§$king confusing, I know. Especially because

Ich hoffe, nie.
would be very fine as well if you'd try to say it in one sentence.

BTW: Temp did something similar. He tried to say:

Two more days.
Zwei mehr Tage sounds moronic.
Zwei Tage mehr is okay-er.

And, can be even nicer said if you don't try to translate it word by word:

Noch zwei Tage.

I am now off to learn German. Right now. C'ya!

Well, have some fun then.

Isn't it strange that the stars shine no more since you're gone?
