Default I have just made a long-term commitment...

...to Coffee.

I just caved in and bought myself a nice coffee maker at costco to replace the ultra-crappy 4 cup Mr. Coffee I've been using. Please reassure me that I'm not insane.

^honorary Brit.

I'm a caffeine free coffee drinker now, and since doing so I feel better for it. Still gotta have it in the morning, even if it's just the taste.

I've heard of people marrying their toaster but getting engaged to a coffee maker?

coffee stains teeth, tastes horrid and is essentially all around bad for you. drink evian and live young. alternitevely drink tea cause it's similar and less harmful and won't make your biscuits taste like crud!

Thai iced tea in the foreground, Thai iced coffee behind and to the left of the tea. Heaven in two glasses!

You have?

Thai iced coffee is yummy. It's served with condensed milk. It tastes kinda like those bottled Starbucks frappucinos you can buy at Safeway.

Coffee makes me tired.

No, not really. I've never tried coffee, but I have no problems to fall asleep after having drunk tea, or one liter of Coca Cola. (probably because I'm hyperactive anyway, I can't get more awake.)

My mother gets tired from drinking coffee, though.

coffee is both a reason for living and a method of living. its a pity most of the coffeeshops here burn their beans and mess the whole thing up. starbucks in london was fantastic (and massive coffee) and that little proper italian place down by the railway station does an amazing latte. mmmm.

I love both, and feel that either is best savored without the addition of cream, sugar, or other flavor-masking ingredients. Truly good examples of either don't require such extraneous additions.
My experience of British culture and habits is limited to reruns of British television shows (The Vicar Of Dibley, Waiting For God, As Time Goes By, Good Neighbors, Chef!, etc.), and in these shows Brits are often depicted as serving instant coffee to guests in their homes. As instant coffee is foul, bitter sludge on it's best day, surely this isn't the case in reality?

Instant tea would be waaaaaaaaaay harder to believe.

Although I do enjoy a good "Tea. Earl Grey. Hot." every now and then, somehow it's just not the same in the morning.

I love the taste of coffee, but I can't drink it regularly, it upsets my stomach, but I do love tea with lemon and sugar, hot or iced. I love all kinds of tea except Earl Grey - the bergamot tastes too floral for my liking. I prefer English Breakfast tea for hot, and I make iced tea with regular black tea and green tea together to get it strong enough (green tea alone I just can't seem to make strong enough for my taste).

Nothing better on a rainy afternoon than a pot of tea and a good book to read!
