No, you might be right, all the older films I'm familiar with (movies by Walerian Borowczyk, Marco Ferreri, even Tinto Brass) were more artsy or just plain exploitative and somewhat further from the mainstream than 9 Songs and its likes.

The real problem is that I didn't name any of those movies to talk about how good they were and obviously the art movie comment was a throw away. I do like some art movies. And the fact that disgusting pornographic scenes in a movie would be considered a work of art brings up a point on how far is too far. You're not kidding me, you just have some sort of personal disgust towards anything I post. And don't say that I didn't add anything to the thread, because obviously if I brought up those awful scenes in the movies, it says something about how a grace taken with realistic pornography in a film can be taken too far. You even derived from my example in a post after the one you thought you would make your snide comment in, hypocrite. So just shut up with your arrogance, because I don't need comments from you like, "I can't believe I actually agree with you." I don't care that you happen to grace me with your higher intellectual presence where you don upon me the same value as your hallowed opinion because you say its so. (And on the internet no doubt. Come on.) Give me a break. |

Anyway, I don't have a personal disgust against you or your post, I happen to disagree with a lot that I've seen you post, and my "I can't believe I actually agree with you" came from that. Believe or not, it was not supposed to be aggressive, or demeaning, because there's no particular reason why my opinion should be more valuable than yours, especially when it comes to adventure games. I haven't replied to any of your posts previously because I didn't see the need to start something like what's going on here, but since you took my comment about agreeing so badly, and since you then hated me already, I thought there was no reason not to answer your original post in this thread, which annoyed me. You have a very aggressive style, as I'm sure you're aware of, and when it's used against things that I like, it's particulary annoying to me. Which is why I answer abruptly. You can't not expect this kind of answers, right? Also, there's no need to be theatrical. Your last sentence has a lot of pretty words, but it's above my grasp of the english language, and calling me arrogant or hypocrite doesn't make no sense. Don't assume you know me, as you said.

Sheesh!
I was thinking of drawing a parallel between certain "art films" and the work of Robert Mapplethorpe, but maybe I'd better put that off for now. ScottMate

It was in reply to what you initially said in another thread, which is why it's the same paragraph. "Arrogant" coming from the context of the Bone thread in which you gratefully bestow your agreement upon me and "hypocrite" because you take note of my movie examples in your own argument in this thread even though you would rather make me look stupid for it. I've already explained why I think it's okay for me to criticise those movies even though I haven't seen them all the way through, so I'm not going to repeat myself. Anyways, if you have any more personal problems with me, I'd rather you just private message me first. |

Eye patches are sexy! Whoops. Ah. Did they really ban all kind of movies, Kolzig? Or did it have to do with, ahem, explicit nudity?

I'm pretty sure they banned all kinds of movies, but these days many of those movies are not banned in here anymore. I think the movies got banned not just because of nudity but because of some extreme things happening in the movies.
One example movie that comes to my mind is Salò o le 120 giornate di Sodoma (1976) by Pier Paulo Pasolini. I actually went and saw that movie when it was unbanned here few years ago... what a sick movie...
