Wanna know how to make grog?
 
All it is is watered-down rum...

Actually, I think the recipe is rum, sea water , lemon juice and mollasses.

I remember geoffkhan saying that he searched for a historical recipe for grog, and this is what he found.

(these things were actually added to cover the disgusting taste of sea water which had been left standing for ages in barrels(in order to remove the salt somehow), and which often developed algae).

Hm, I haven't heard these things

I know that grog was based on lemon or orange, in order to avoid scurvy. The full recipe is: rum, cinnamon, hot water and lemon juice. Variations also occur

The name comes form Captain Grog, who invented it. And his name comes from the coats he used to wear (I don't remember the full story, but I guess 'grog' was a kind of naval coat)

You can find recipes online. I also have contributed here

That's one of the modern version. Cinnammon was, and is one of the more expensive spices (the most expensive is probably saffron, because that is harvested from Crocus, and only under very special conditions)

I guess the lemon might indeed have been added to avoid scurvy (because they took lemons with them because of that, anyway)

But trust me, the main reason for adding rum to the water (because actually the rum was added to the water, and not the other way around), to cover up the nasty taste of the water.

I found the recipe for gror on the internet a while back. I think I found more than a few of them, actually.

But if you want to make the Monkey Island version of grog, you get the recipe from the three important-looking pirates in the Scumm bar, in the beginning of The Secret of Monkey Island.

Anyone actally dared to try THAT? Presumably not drink it, but just mix it? Could be interesting. I assume actually consuming it would be lethal, though.

There's some grog at my favorite bar, but since I'm not a rum person, I haven't tried it out. I know it's warm, though.

Boiling Cider
2 oz. Rum
A pat of butter

In a mug or pewter tankard, add spices and rum. Fill with Cider & float Butter in top.

I doubt it. It's hard to get most of the ingredients, and they are all dangerous:

* kerosene - That's Airplane fuel
* propylene glycol - not that dangerous, if in small quantities. Used in some foods
* sulphuric acid - Let me say it this way:
Little Johnny took a drink
but he shall drink no more.
For what he thought was H2O
Was H2SO4.
* artificial sweeteners - okay, they are not really dangerous
* red dye no2 - Popular food coloring, which was later found to be a carcinogen (=causes cancer)
* rum - alcohol is bad for you, didn't you know?
* acetone - also known as propane (which is a flammable)
* battery acid - do I have to explain this?
* scumm - Eating computers is unhealthy, unless you are Michel Lotito ("Monsieur Mangetout")...I don't know about software and engines on a computer, though...
* axle grease - this is just jucky...
* and/or pepperoni. - ...I kind of like this one...

Is that american or english cider?

Because experience (from roleplaying a bard who doesn't take too well to alcohol in a bar which has a barrel of english-type cider, and one of american-type cider. One of them is not to his favour [because it's such a long way to fall, if you are a about 2 metres tall...])

Because experience [...] taught me that English/European Cider is usually with alcohol, while american cider is without alcohol. It's a running joke in the "Divine Realms" Inn (actually, it is the "Divine Realms II" - the first one burned down), just after the painting of the three-legged horse, which hangs behind the bar.

Sulfuric acid and battery acid are the same thing. I get it splashed on me all the time and while it doesn't burn skin immediately, it [I]will[/] sting like the dickens if it comes in contact with mucus membranes or an open cut. I can't say I'd care to drink it, though.
Perhaps the "scumm" is what we call "scum", as in pond scum, the algae mats that form on stagnant water.

French cider has alcool in it, albeit not that much. Less than beer, anyway. (but it's much much better :))
