Default Smashing Pumpkins reunion

Erm, has anyone heard of this? There is a news bit posted on a German site today. It says that Corgan posted a full-page ad in a Chicago newspaper concerning a Pumpkins reunion:

"For a year now I have walked around with a secret, a secret I chose to keep. But now I want you to be among the first to know that I have made plans to renew and revive The Smashing Pumpkins. I want my band back, and my songs, and my dream. In this desire I feel I have come home again."

Already? What's it been, two years? Doesn't surprise me that much, Zwan was crap anyway. Not that Pumpkins' last record was much better...

Waste of talent... Their instrumentals kick monumental amounts of ass, but his voice just drags it all down

Or better yet, The Pixies?

Corgan's in. I doubt anyone else is. I don't see this actually happening.

I don't see Iha going back there anyway. Corgan blamed a lot on him some years ago. But remember: Corgan's talking about renewing, not just reviving.

Even if it does happen I don't think anything will come of it
The Pumpkins were great in their early days of Siamese Dream, Gish and Melon Collie, but imo they went downhill after that - I bought Adore as I was a major fan but was sorely disappointed, I didn't even bother with Machina

Maybe I'm just showing my age and being a bit too nostalgic, but I'd really like to see them go back to their earlier sound

^ Agreed. Mellon Collie was one of the most superb albums of the nineties, even if some of it was a little unlistenable.

Yes, there were some *odd* songs on that album, but it does bring back some great memories

I liked "Adore". And there were some good songs on Machina II (Friends and enemies of modern music). Anyone listened to Corgan's solo record yet?

I only wish it were true but this won't happen. Their last two albums were their finest, and Machina II was even better. I thought Zwan was better than all the rest of the Pumpkins pre-Adore crap, and I'm really liking the solo album(have been for a month now). I hope it happens, but I'm not betting the farm.

They got together for a reunion tour, but I suppose that was just a one time thing? They did record a couple of new songs, however, one of which (Bam Thwok) was pretty good.
