What do you like?
I'm a bit sick of "worst" threads.
Let's let some sunshine in. I'm sitting here, sun bleeding through the green trees in the back garden slowly turning into a dusky yellow. Eagles is on the player, I'm wearing my Stetson. I've had a great day out walking in Crystal Palace Park, listening to my MP3 player, staring out at the green sprawl of Bromley reaching to the horizon under a blue sky. Nelly Furtado singing her heart out about beautiful things, everything good, everything perfect... bought some red wine, Pinotage from South Africa, it tastes good and warms my belly... I'm typing away, listening to great music, and the wine's kicking in, and I'm feeling good reaching out into the ether spreading some summer happiness to others. I'm thinking about how I'm loving the rich taste of the red on my tongue. Hotel California's just kicked in, one of the best songs ever written. Outside my freshly-mown lawn smells of cut grass and my cat stalks pigeons, doomed to failiure thanks to a little tinkly bell. Fishkin (yes, you read that right) has just had some fresh daphnia and is now discovering his new plants I just bought. It's been a great day. I love great days. What do you enjoy? |
You're an alcoholic.
|
I've had less than half a glass of wine and my head's spinning. If I was an alcoholic, I'd be a crap one. ;)

Travel, Exploration, Discovery: Be they in an adventure game, a faraway city, or a small corner of the back yard, I love to find something new and different to marvel at.
Mechanical Things: Cars, clocks, anything really. I love taking them apart and putting them back together, and I especially enjoy fixing mechanical things when they're broken or not working properly. Animals: Making friends with anything furry or scaly or feathered gives me a special thrill. From a horse that used to follow me around like a dog after I calmed it down when it was stressed and nervous, to a Red-Tailed Boa Constrictor that liked to lay gently across my shoulders with his head resting against my heart, to a Red Macaw that lit on my shoulder and nuzzled my cheek with his bill and threw an absolute fit when I had to leave the pet store, I enjoy their company and they seem to enjoy mine. Me? I like days when peoples glasses are half full. When the weather outside is beautiful and work doesn't beckon, Megs and I like to grab the bikes and cycle off into the forest where there's a nice beer garden, and then sit back and relax, with my maß Weißbier vom faß cooling me down, before the journey back where we'll stop off at our favourite Italian Ice Cream cafe. It only normally lasts a few hours but has the effect of being away for a week - we literally feel the stresses of every day life slowly lift from us. :) |

SJH - thanks for the really nice thread
S&M - be careful calling anyone an alcoholic, unless you know them very well and actually know how much they drink, and even then, hesitate to say so Scott - animals come to me too, and that always feels good. Just yesterday, the neighbors lab dog insisted upon coming into my house when I went to my front door. The neighbor came right after him, but the dog kept trying to pull away to come to me. When I'm at anyone's house who has a pet, they inevitably wind up on my lap, or leaning against my leg for loving. As far as what I like, I grew up near the ocean and I've always like the sound of the waves and walking barefoot through the wet sand, and squishing it between my toes. I love the fog - the way it smells, the feel of it on my skin, the way it alters sounds, the misty ambiance it gives to the world. I love a fresh snow and how it makes the world seem all bright and clean again. And light snow falling on your eyelashes. I love a good book that captures your life for a time and makes you want to know the characters and have them for friends. I love curling up with a loved one in front of a fire in a fireplace, listening to the crackling of the sweet smelling wood. I love the crisp feel of clean sheets on a freshly made bed. I love the natural smells of nature, not the perfumed smells we get assaulted with everyday. I love the innocence of small children and their wonder at the world. I love the warmth of friends who accept you for who you are, and don't try to change you into someone better. And who know you well enough to be able to glance at you and know what you are thinking, and just nod in agreement, without a word being said. Gonna stop here or I could go on for hours, hehehe... BUMP!
Jesus, people! Do you guys only ever want to complain? Let's have some more affirmitive action! :D |
Ok people you heard SJH, positive stuff here only now! Btw FGM, you're such a romantic! Everything you listed I enjoy as well :)
I love the ocean too, I didn't grow up near it but the beauty and majesty of the sea has always captivated my heart. I love my work, my research, my students, and everything that art history encompasses. I guess most of all, I love academia :) With that said, I love Caravaggio. I love Michelangelo, I love Raphael, Bernini, Van Gogh, Cezanne, Gauguin... shoot the list goes on and on ;) I love the arts. Not just visual arts and art history, but music, theatre, dance... all those things! I love Jazz, especially jazz piano. Jazz soothes me and intrigues me at the same time, it's wonderful :) I'll stop here too as the list will just keep growing if I don't. I guess I should top the list off with something geeky, so here ya go... I love Star Wars hehe :D |
You know what I like, SJH?
I love the crazy people here at AG. Reading what you crazy people have to say about various things has become one of the most enjoyable part of my daily routine. When I fire up my browser in the morning, the first thing I do is hitting the AG forums bookmark. Whether it's engaging in a serious discussions about the state of adventure games or just fooling around, the best part of about an hour or so of Internet time I have everyday seems always to take place right here. The Internet is a big place but where else would I be able to make a flirtatious comment to someone wonderful like Trep and then keep hitting the refresh button every ten seconds to see if I got a funny, cute response from him that would cause me to cause severe injury to my face by putting on a biggest and silliest grin you will ever see. I love AG forums and its crazy denizens. http://forums.adventuregamers.com/showthread.php?t=5659 |

Exactly. The Eagles were one of the best bands on the planet, both technically and by the fact they were so commited to their art, it had real heart.
But the less said about Witchy Woman the better. :D |

I love acaedmia, too. A university campus is one my favorite places to be, and it's one place I'd like to work at. But I don't think I'll end up becoming a professor; working in a studio environment is where I'm headed at the moment, which is also good. I'm already a second year senior with one more year to go, and I think I've decided to add yet another year to that. After taking the history course that I did this quarter, I've become very interested in learning more, so I plan to get a minor in it. If things seem to go well, I might even make it into a major. |
