In order to be apologetic one has to have a feeling of remorse, or regret, two things which I do not believe in either.
I will never, ever apologise for the way I feel. I don't apologise for my actions either, as I am not one to act brashly, and I stand by my decisions.

What if a decision you made turned out to hurt a friend's feelings even though you never thought it would. Do you still choose not to apologise since your descision wasn't brash? Or can you tell a friend: hey I'm sorry I hurt your feelings, that was never my intention.

Given your reasoning, that actually makes sense. I feel regret and remorse for my actions a lot, which justifies being apologetic. However, I don't see why the same necessarily has to apply to you and everyone else.

I haven't yet posted any pix of me in this year's Anime North costume, so here's one. Yep, I'm definitely in there, and no prizes for guessing correctly. *wonders if Lee was at the con*

I can kinda see where Jat is coming from.
I always try to speak my mind, and to have my actions reflect the way I truly feel about something. I will apologize if I word something poorly, or if I find that my actions/words *didn't* match my true intentions - even if said actions/words didn't hurt anyone. But if I did do/say what I truly felt, and it bothered someone? I'd feel sorry that I hurt them, but I wouldn't feel sorry for doing/saying what I did, because I won't apologize for being me. Anyhoo. Erwin: I dig the goggles. Peace & Luv, Liz

Erwin took that pic later in the day. That bridge will still be engulfed in fog up to late morning (at least it has been the times I've been there).
But you get such gorgeous views of the bay from there. |

Yeah, it was taken around 2 or 3, I think. We returned from San Rafael, and decided to park the car near the overlook, to take some pictures.
Somehow we didn't have to pay toll when we went downtown, by the way. I guess the guy was in a good mood, or something. --Erwin

This is what we were talking about. I agree that one shouldn't apologise for an opinion, or for being who we are. But not being able to apologise for doing a mean thing is just immature imo.

I don't care anymore - I'm not particularly good at staying angry - but I'm not about to provide more ammunition.

Jelena: I know what you're talking about.
Just that Jat's further reasoning: Quote:
Note that I'm not saying I *approve* of doing mean things, just that there is simply no point in apologizing if you're not sorry for them. Peace & Luv, Liz

I can see the logic in this reasoning and there's no point in continuing a discussion about it. I guess there are a lot of people living by the rule that the only one who matters are themselves.

A-ha! So that's why you're still wearing the same clothes you wore when I saw you.

For those of you who might know the Ontario and North Eastern U.S. con circuits, Dawn McKechnie is heavily involved in organizing and judging (as well as occasionally winning prizes herself) cosplay events. She's a fabulously talented costumer, and is in fact one of my most talented and cherished friends. I only wish she didn't live so far from me now. |

I felt really sorry for you when you sat in the back of Emily's car, by the way. Looking back, we would've been better off taking that fat Chevrolet Impala that I rented. --Erwin
