I'm most curious to see how accurate the mental image I have of you is.
I see kilts on all the Scots.
When we were in Scotland a couple of years ago we ended up in the middle of a clan meeting (at the hotel in Lochearnhead where we were eating). I think it was the McLarens. (sp?) There were many kilts there, and they all looked great!

I picture you as being about the same height and build as T_Manelius (y'all are the same age), but with much longer brown hair. I also picture you as having a wicked grin on your face most of the time.

I think I've heard Tobias say he's a little taller than me (I'm 6'1"), so that's about right.

That's hardly an excuse. According to everyone who's seen it (both here and in the three-dimensional world), I look like death-warmed-over in the last photo I posted. I thought I looked rather good, though.

Did you know that a Scotsman, John Boyd Dunlop, was a veterinarian who also designed the rubber tire with an inflatable tube inside (although he wasn't the first). That's where Dunlop tires gets their name.

The telephone (Alexander Graham Bell)

Penicillin - discovered (Alexander Fleming)

Kaleidoscope and lenticular stereoscope (David Brewster)

Vacuum flask (James Dewar)

Pioneer of modern surgery and antiseptics (Joseph Lister)

Waterproof clothing (Charles Macintosh)

There's more I'm sure.

On an episode of QI, Stephen Fry went through a list of inventions falsely attributed to the Scots. I can't remember all of them, but the telephone was one of them, as Alexander Graham Bell stole the idea from someone else and put his name on the patent.

You forgot the TV!

And stealing ideas is all part of the world of inventing!
