Trip down memory lane... on tape...
 

Since I am DESPERATLY looking for space to put my "junk" (I'm a packrat, ok?), I asked my sister if it would be OK to throw away the old VHS tapes where we recorded stuff, she agreed so I started viewing them to see which to keep and which to throw...

My sister had hundreds of tapes with MTV videos... and lots of movies they taped once and never saw again... I soon noticed that my tapes with old toons from my youth were nowhere to be found... Until I noticed that in the begging of one tape was 1 nanosecond of something...

When I paused I found out the truth... My sister had taped ON my toons! :(
I don't even know what was lost, maybe He-Man, Tranfprmes, GI Joe, and stuff like that... Fortunately my complete Ranma collection is safe!

If you think that taping over old toons is nothing to complain about, you may be right, but she also taped over HOME VIDEOS! :frusty:

Fortunately there still are home videos of my sister! :devil:
They are pure gold!!!

The best part was seeing old series, movies, commercials ans such... I have Webster and Remmington Steel episodes lying around...

I just tossed the tapes with movies and videos.... 5 bags of it! :eek:

You know, now I'm really glad my parent are against consumerism and television.

My parents "raised" me the oppiste way... They just put me in front of the TV and hoped for the best... :sad:
TV was my "nanny" for my childhood...

When I was a child, me and my brother had to make up our own boredom. Now you can get endless boredom from tv 24 hours a day.

Yep TV sucks nowadays, I barely whatch TV anymore...
Specially since I got a DVD rom on my PC... I just watch DVDs on my PC.... Because my dad hogs the TV when he's home.... :rolleyes:

I watched very little TV as a child, and I watch absolutely none now. Yesterday I watched my first bit of TV (a 30 mins show) in at least 4 months, fr'example. I also fairly rarely watch movies, because I'm not in the least interested in thrillers, action movies, or formulaic and predictable comedies or romantic movies. I'm only interested in movies with lots of characterisation and a proper *story*, where I'm never ever going to predict what happens next (I hate that!). So until recently I watched maybe 4 movies a year, max, and that's exaggerating it. Since I met my boyfriend, I've been averaging one every 2 weeks or so, though. Still, only catching up with all the older films I thought sounded interesting but didn't watch at the time, not any of the commercial crap. (Apart from CGI films. CGI films rule! *D)

Yeah I too have a lot of toons and all recorded on VHS.But I'm more bent towards Live concerts(Iron Maiden,Pink Floyd).

btw: I Thought I was the only moron who taped Remington Steele.Nobody seems to know abt it.I've tried Kazaa and Bittorrent and other p2p programs but to no avail.I would love to watch it now..after all these years..*sigh*

I'm essentially the same as Tamz in terms of TV. I watched hardly any as a child, and I really haven't watced any at all for the last seven years (longer, I'm sure, but seven years ago was when I actually made the conscious observation). On the other hand, I love movies. A movie still has to be pretty damn good for me to really enjoy it, but I love film as a medium.

I can't really augment how much TV I watched as a kid, but it was mostly "barne-tv" at six o'clock, which was half an hour of childish grown-ups and weird cartoons... And afterwards, Astrid Lindgreen series!

We only had one channel (and Norway only had one "official" channel anyway until '92 or something), so I guess it couldn't have been THAT much... But I still know that a lot of my childhood was molded through barne-tv... with Postman Pat and Thomas Toget and and Kalle Klovn and pippi Langstrømpe and.... *sigh*

Wow, that line completely ruined your credibility. It's like the Masterpiece Theater guy farting after making an intro for King Lear.

everyone needs light entertainment from time to time :P I didn't say it was *worthy* stuff, but those films are always fun, light-hearted, and last but not least, the geek's wet dream :P
