This Latvian progressive death band progressively becomes less progressive and more death. I like that. Bonobo - Flutter |

Hee, my Last.FM top artist for this week is The Gone Jackals, the group who contributed to the soundtrack to Full Throttle.
That's what happens when I start pining for the game to be supported by ScummVM DS. I've just been listening to Breathe Me by Sia. I should check out more of the Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins, I really like what I've heard so far. Oh, and Starlight Express? Admit it Lacey - you wish you could be on How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? |

thom yorke, "the eraser."
it's not a terrible album. it's also not a great album. like everyone else before me, i will say two things about this: it's almost completely coherent. also, it's /very/ much some of the best vocal work thom yorke has done in a /long/ while.

i wasn't, exactly. i'd heard "analyze" and "barrowdown hill" quite some time before the rest of the album and i liked those well enough. i /like/ the album. i just don't think that it's totally stellar. as others have pointed out, i don't think he took as many chances as he might have done if it were a radiohead record. on the plus side, i admire mister yorke. that was brave. also, i think he made the record he set out to make, which is wonderful. i enjoy it, and will listen to it along with the rest of the radiohead catalogue, but i tend to think of him as more risk-taking than "the eraser" suggests.

i figured you might. it amuses me greatly that people seem to think that he /is/ radiohead, when that's not the truth at all. radiohead is all of them put together. while i do think of thom as the risk-taking one, i also think that there's a great deal of input that goes on behind the scenes from the other members. he's just the most vocal person in the band. [this conversation got me to listen to the album again, i'm presently sitting at analyze. which is an awesome song.]
