OK, well at the very least, you'll probably like them.
I'm not Hammerite, but I followed your 'advice' nevertheless and listened to the EP, and I must say I like it, especially Kid for Today. I only have Geogaddi at home, what else should I check out (besides Music has a Right to have Children)?

EDIT: I remember listening to some songs from Music has a Right... a few times, but never really getting into it. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood.

Magneta Lane - Secrets Aren't So Bad

The Constant Lover EP was pure awesomeness, the first album - not so much. It has a darker tone that doesn't suit their music very well.

Unfortunately the Boards of Canada don't have much at the moment, only three albums and a few EPS. I reckon it's because they spend forever carefully crafting their sound (just look at the Geogaddi section of http://fredd-e.narfum.org/boc/info/ to see what I mean), but in any case Geogaddi and Music Has the Right to Children are their two best albums, and In a Beautiful Place... their best EP. But Twoism and Hi-Scores, two of their earlier EPs, are also good listens. The thing about them is that their sound hasn't changed much at all.

In other news, I've been splurging on CDs left and right. Been getting some Pink Floyd, Sigur Ros, Beck, Flaming Lips, and some others, and yesterday I hauled away Mogwai's Come On Die Young, Floyd's The Final Cut, Massive Attack's Mezzanine, New Order's Substance, My Bloody Valentine's Loveless, and finally found Portishead used. Not quite Dummy, but still, y'know, Portishead (read: great).

I hear that BoC plan on re-issuing some of their old self-released tapes at some point.
I think you can find some of them on t'internet too.

Loveless is a classic album too, Kevin Shields said that we would get a third album "100%", and that it would be better than Loveless (which is apparently why it wasn't released sooner).

Speaking of ambient, experimental, etc... which album by Can would be best to start with?

Hah, Cocteau Twins now? I guess that makes sense if you're a fan of My Bloody Valentine. Dream pop/shoe gaze is pretty cool. I've just started discovering it, along with "post rock" (Mogwai, Sigur Ros, Tortoise, and the original post rockers, Slint; planning on trying out some Talk Talk as well). I already had listened to a couple "trip hop" albums but I'm also exploring that as a genre nowadays.

Explosions In The Sky are good post-rock, they're like Mogwai with guitars sounding like a sort of Cocteau Twins/U2 hybrid.

Sweet, I'll give them a listen. Oh, and found your other question. For Can, I'd go with Tago Mago. I'm a sucker for ridiculously long tracks.

EDIT: Seems they have five albums. Which is the best to start with?

The only album I have is 'The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place', if your liking for long tracks is true, then I'd recommend it, since all its tracks are over 8-minutes, though, unfortunately, the instrumentation is hardly varied, with every track consisting of traditional bass, drums and guitars.
Still a good album, though.

np: some old Neutral Milk Hotel bootlegs.
