The Box of Knowledge
I came up with the concept for a website called "The Box of Knowledge". Its kind of like a blog but its not. Anyway, you can check it out here

Nice work
I personally cannot stand the "word" 1337: elite. Its used massively in Unreal Tournament for people who think they are good. The other one is: OWNED....what a load of shit AF

I can not stand nettalk (or whatever it is called), or Leet. I'm alright with "lol" - I use it myself sometimes.
What concerns me is the fact that netspeak is not only used on the Internet these days. On tests like the IGCSE, some people write "u" instead of "you", and "2" instead of "to/too". I think people should make a clear distinction between writing on the Internet, and writing a letter in real life. Also, there is a difference between writing things in a forum, where you have a time to think about your what you want to say, and to write out your words. In chat rooms, abbreviations make sense, in forums, they don't. -

I agree with the sentiment - but I detest shorthand ("u", "r", "2") far more than I detest even the oddest acronyms ("lol", "roflmfao", "omg"). Former is just taking a word that is already short ("you", "are", "too"/"two"/"to") and shortening it further, whereas latter is shortening things like "laughing out loud", "rolling on the floor laughing my f*cking ass off", "oh my gosh"... okay, so "omg" is annoying.
Really, it depends on the amount of disrespect someone has for the language. "LOL" to me is a more accurate representation of "laughing out loud", paticularily if it is done briefly and suddenly, which it normally is in my case. It seems to suit a "haha!" more than the written out version does. Or I've just grown up with "lol" too much and am looking for excuses.

Listen I sometimes use short hand words. I dunno why people get so pissed off when you use them???? What's the big deal? I mean just listen to the way we speak and we cut off half of the words. "coz", "wanna" ....

Shorthands also give a "n00b" (omg look i said n00b) impression, and therefore many people prefer to avoid it. When it comes to respect from others it's not what you say, it's how you say it. In some other circles using netspeak would probably be the norm, but not at AG.

How... image-like...
Don't ya know how to make a website? You could've at least made the >> BLOG << text real text and not an image. It will only make things easier when editing it. It's very easy to do with something like CoffeeCup Free Image Slicer 1.0: http://www.freshfolder.com/go.php?fi...rInstaller.exe |
