The Beer thread!!!
Well, seeing as we're having a bit of drinks theme going on here, I thought I may as well start one too
I used to drink Guinness, until it became grossly over-priced (between £2.30 - £2.60 a pint in York) since I was a young teeny of 13. Now, I prefer to drink quality bitter, none of this lager stuff; thats for girls For example, tonight if I go out it'll be: 1st - Old Speckled Hen or Deuchars (nice "light" Scottish bitter) 2nd - Another of the above 3rd - Tetleys 4th - Tetleys 5th - depends where we are at this point; maybe a JD+Coke 6th - perhaps finish on a nice, strong brute such as Old Peculiar (NOT A SESSION ALE) And deffo stay in pubs, because I hate clubs and trendy bars. So, what do you lot drink? Do you go out to get well and truly crappers or a few like I do and a good natter about the world, philosophy, the size of that girls breasts over there..... AF

I drink only gin and lonkero (a gin type of bottled stuff only sold in Finland).
It is a bit pricy when compared to beer, but hey I don't care.

I often buy from the Threshers "4 for £5.49" deal in bottled beers. 4 500ml bottles of beer that are typically 4.5 to 5.2%.
My normal choices are Hobgoblin and Fiddler's Elbow (both from the Wych Wood Brewery) but I've also been known to drink Spitfire and Newcastle Brown on ocassion. Plus I'll always try something I've never heard once (or more times if the taste is right ) In pubs I'll usually drink Harveys Best which is a locally brewed bitter.

Ugh. Can't stand the stuff. I prefer my beverages to come with a certain minimum of sugar and/or caffeine. And possibly artificial coloring

Tbh, I like those little cheap bottles you get, sold in boxes of about 12, for about 4-5 quid. You know the ones. Yoiu can get loads in yer fridge and they are sooo refreshing when they are cold. I too like the more, shall we say, obscure beers. We have a great shop in York, which sells these kind of beers only. Cant stand Newky Brown, but I can stand Black Sheep (the dark ale). Brewed just up the road int Yorkshire Dales. AF

Now Belgian or German beer, that's a whole other story. And I guess some of our Dutch breweries aren't bad either. --Erwin

That's pretty much the only beer I have with sushi. In fact, I only enjoy that beer if I'm having sushi.

My father tried that beer. I think I still have the label somewhere...along with the beer label with an icebear driving a car on it.
My father said the chinese beer was very good, and he should know. He's Bavarian. On a sidenote: Should I be concerned about the fact that when googling for "Beer" and "China", I found a picture of the Dalai Lama? -

So, am I the only beer-loving girl here?
At home it's usually our very own - well not anymore as the brewery has been sold but it was established in my hometown - König Pilsener, preferably freshly drawn and ice-cold. While on holiday in Scotland it MUST be Guinness! Also served ice-cold of cource I once drank it from a bottle - that was disgusting, yech. Why did I click this thread? I want a Guinness now! |

Guinnes is growing on me, but I still prefer Belgian "Palm bier".

Vodka tonics and tequila shots anyone? I'll drink almost any beer if I'm just trying to get drunk fast. For flavor I'm fond of your standard Guinness and a local brew called Ubu Ale.

Traquair Jacobite Ale - probably the best beer in the world. From Scotland, and speaking of Scottish beer, one other favourite of mine is Innis & Gunn. Leffe Brune Nils Oscar Kalasöl (the best swedish beer) Old Speckled Hen Staropramen Granát Hoegaarden Guinness Kilkenny Bombardier ...are also excellent.
