Out of a bottle, Coopers pale ale. Out of a tap, Carlton draught (the bottled Carlton draught is no comparison).

Duvel: My number one. Strong beer.

Grimbergen Optimo Bruno: Heavy stuff, if you drink too many of those...

Leffe Blond: Tastes wonderful.

Cristal Alken: In my opinion the best pils.

Who would have guessed that these were 100% Belgian?

And if you're really tired of living, if you're totally fed up with something try a couple of this one...

Bush (not the president) beer

Warning can cause serious headaches. 8-)
I have heard this from a good friend of mine.

My favourites are probably Carlsberg (usually Hof) and Kilkenny.

Always willing to try any real ale on offer. When I went to Norwich I went to a pub called The Fat Cat I looked at the 15 different hand pumps arrayed along the bar.

Me "I'm having trouble choosing"

Bartender "We've got 15 more round the other side"

But for something to avoid may I recommend Golden Glory by the Badger brewery (who are usually fairly reliable) Tastes the way floral toilet cleaners smell if you know what I mean.

At home it's usually our very own - well not anymore as the brewery has been sold but it was established in my hometown - König Pilsener, preferably freshly drawn and ice-cold.
My brother in law works for Koenig Pilsener (or whoever own them now), so I get as much as I want of it for free :-)

If I'm out I drink Becks mostly, or Warsteiner if they don't have Becks. Bavarian beer tastes good but is malicious, you can drink it like water the whole evening and then suddenly, without you even notice, you are totally bombed within the blink of an eye ... Bavarians are evil, trust me ;-)

Finally a beer thread! Here we go:

Usually, when I go out on "get wasted mission", I drink this:

It's a strong, dark beer, with 7% alcohol (and if it's from the tap, it's probably much more). This is not a beer I would drink normally if I wanted just one, to enjoy it. These are:

And one more thing, this is the absolute cheapest beer I ever had:

It's not spectacular, but it costs (in a store) about 0,125 €! And that's a bargain!

You tell me! My mother lives in Bavaria so I should know and I agree
By the way, Kölsch beer has the same effect, you drink it like lemonade but when you try to get up after a while... oh boy!

I prefer beers like Leffe or Hertog Jan. Of the popular Dutch beers I like Heineken, but Amstel is so-so, and Grolsch is horrible.

For some reason I only drink brown ale or other darker beers when I'm on holidays. Maybe because they're more common elsewhere.

While we're on the topic of beers, one time in San Francisco someone gave me a taste of bacon-flavored beer. It was possibly the most surreal and horrible beer I've ever drunk.

Well, I'm half Bavarian...I wonder if this makes me a bit more alcohol resistant than the average?

That's very likely! After all, according to the Bavarians I know beer is basic foodstuff in Bavaria...

I would really like to know what's the use in "poisoning" food and beverages with all kinds of preposterous flavours.

Well, the worst I had was a non-alcoholic beer with tequila flavor, but this one you mentioned could just be a perfect meal on a hot summer day: bacon + beer, in one bottle you get all the carbohydrates, liquid and alcohol you need!

When I drink beer {which is rare because most of my pals usually buy hard stuff since it's more cost effective and we're all students} I usually drink Canadian or Alexander Keith's. Nothing fancy.

My brother lives in Prague and apparently the beer there is great - and very cheap
He sent me a text the other night which said ..... " I've been out all night and only spent £3 but I'm totally wankered!!"

- I think Prague sounds like a cool place to live - If I go out in Lancaster I usually need to spend about £20 before I get in such a state
