BTW, Devin, the top thing, 'NEWS at the' should align bellow with the top line of 'church' with no pixels between.
Blah blah blah it looks better this way. The line from the top right to the top left now parallels the line from the bottom right to the bottom left (as best as an invisible line can parallel a visible, curvy line).

Also, don't mess with the spacing between the items in the menu on the right.
? I tried to match it exactly.

I feel violated on some fundamental level...
What's new? *zing*

edit: sorry remixor

It is handled by a script I have formulated to be useful in another part of the Church I have yet to open. It complicates everything. It looks slightly different anyway...

Also, the icons yelling about compatibility are fucking lame. Kill them.

Gray for visited links is a no-no.

The room between the statue of Tim and the poll frame should be smaller than the height of the flashing Ashcroft.

Don't mess with the design, please.

Also, 'NEWS at the' has to be in a table aligned right because it has to fit in the specific place as it appears in IE in the original Church, and since it is generated for each page according to its id it has to be able to accomodate longer page names and still be aligned right and cradled the same damn way.

You know, you might fucking as well stop this, seriously. Don't fix what you think is redundancy, ok? That particular thing works well.

I noticed it does look slightly different, yes. I hadn't realized that exact line spacing was part of your grand vision, but I'll try to fix it.. And I don't see this script you're talking about in javascript or in PHP.

My bad -- misread a line of CSS. What are your secret bookmarks?

No prob.

Not doing it intentionally.

Well, except for the NEWS at the thing.

And the disclaimer footer.

And the right-margin thing, should I ever get that to work.

And the *kingz shoots twif*

Note, .parent has to stay .parent I see you have been changing names of random css tags for no apparent reason...

Oh, and make sure you leave about 70 pixels on top of the site for the purposes of the ads, if Mojo ever decides it needs those again...

The old code doesn't work any more, Jake...

Unless you're referring to something specific.. I'm not doing this just to show you up with how lean my code can be. My reasons are twofold:
  1. To re-learn all this new-fangled HTML stuff.
  2. To not cringe at the thought of opening The Church, like you just cringed at that split infinitive.

I plan on changing them in the code, too... Just trying to make the tags represent the entities, in an effort that, should one of us edit it in the far future, he'll understand it. But I'm not dead set on it, if you are...

Do you want 70px whitespace between the ad and the site, or is it just that the ad is 70px tall? If the latter, I'll just make sure that the menu and poll are wrapped in the same container as the main content, and let it all float down should a banner be added.

Ads are 60px tall. Leave a 70px room.

If you change .parent, that means that I would have to go through the whole archive and the screenshot archive and every other archive I have established and fix all the <span class="parent">blah</span>s. How hard is it to let parent be parent?

The page now works beautifully in Opera 7.20, except for a small problem:

And, as usual, none of the browser identifications will fix this.

I ain't lookin' to compete with you,
Beat or cheat or mistreat you,
Simplify you, classify you,
Deny, defy or crucify you.
All I really want to do
Is, baby, be friends with you.

No, and I ain't lookin' to fight with you,
Frighten you or uptighten you,
Drag you down or drain you down,
Chain you down or bring you down.
All I really want to do
Is, baby, be friends with you.

I ain't lookin' to block you up
Shock or knock or lock you up,
Analyze you, categorize you,
Finalize you or advertise you.
All I really want to do
Is, baby, be friends with you.

I don't want to straight-face you,
Race or chase you, track or trace you,
Or disgrace you or displace you,
Or define you or confine you.
All I really want to do
Is, baby, be friends with you.

I don't want to meet your kin,
Make you spin or do you in,
Or select you or dissect you,
Or inspect you or reject you.
All I really want to do
Is, baby, be friends with you.

I don't want to fake you out,
Take or shake or forsake you out,
I ain't lookin' for you to feel like me,
See like me or be like me.
All I really want to do
Is, baby, be friends with you.

No programmer will compromise my artistic vision, bitch.
Believe it or not, I'm a human, in addition to being a programmer.

Dylan.

So.. would it be pointless to work on conversion, as it'll eventually be struck down by your wrath, or do I have your implicit blessing now?

I have no plan of striking you down (note the ambiguity of that statement)... I am curious to know if this will work when the php is incorporated... Which brings me to my next point: please, don't mess with the php itself... I know that MySQL is so much better than my solution, and that I have tons of seemingly random loops that seemingly do nothing... It is all a part of a bigger plan... And those shallow loops do everything they need to do within the argument. Somewhat pointless, but it works.

BTW: You could do something with HAL. It needs a little overhaul - at least make it refresh-proof. Open a temp dir in the church with the new version of everything.

It should.. I've glanced over a few portions of it, and it seems so.

Oh, you say that now, but when I post my revised version to the forum, and everybody loves it, and then I post lyrics to yet another Dylan song, you'll be forced to change your mind muahaha!

Actually, I'd have to make a whole bunch of minor changes, but wouldn't need to alter the structure of the code one bit. And I really don't want to mess with SQL so that's not a concern. While we're sharing curiosities, I'm curious about this bigger plan...

And "I have no plan of striking you down (note the ambiguity of that statement)..." isn't the most pleasurable of working conditions... Oh well, I can always make my own site dedicated to mocking you and your crazy Church. (Wait.. we had one of those already...)

Probably would've made more sense as a PM, but I'm lazy like that. Or something.
