Datelexics?
 

Using Google to determine the meaning of words doesn't always work. Case in point: Searching for datelexics only finds me the above quote. I guess it could be a simple misspelling, but I don't know of what, so I don't know what to search for.

So… what does the word mean?

I'm guessing it refers to people's choice of how they express the date (i.e. month/day/year or day/month/year).

His use of datelexic to describe the day/month/year model makes me pity him, for he is clearly WRONG. ;)

Datelexic is not in fact a word, it's a play on the term "dyslexic" from the Greek dys meaning bad and lexis meaning word - which describes sufferers of a condition in which letters are read in the incorrect order - then mixed with the word "date".

It eludes to the fact that in most of the world the date is written day/month/year, except in North America where it is month/day/year. The word itself when broken down makes no sense, but it's similar to such constructions as "tanorexic" or "smellyvision" where the meaning of the new word can be inferred situationally from the component parts.

Nah. It's you that's doing it backwards, of course. :P Today is 6/6 (we can at least agree on that much!), which translates as the sixth day of the sixth month. Can't make more sense than that.

It's even more extreme than that, Squinchester.
The man retrieves semen from the woman and returns it into its original 'storage area', and they then vomit out a four-course meal, and remove approximately two hours of fictional romantic comedy from their memories.

Fortunately the vbulletin software writers have taken a sensible approach to this difficulty. Note the last setting in the Date and Time options on the User CP.

Not sure about the rest of it but I'm in favour of this part. :)

That said however, this whole illogical system did lead to one of the funniest Stewart Lee routines.

Of course, there is dyscalculia, which is an innate inability to do mathematics.

I wonder if I have that...? :P
