hahahahahahahahah..................... I love Piggly Wiggly.......... I remember as a kid going and getting that weeks worth of groceries :D

Even I knew that, and I haven't played the game. (But I think I may have tried a demo of it at one point.)

Amsterdam poetry!! :D

Performed on the day from suggestion by Jelena. (Escape game addict)

Escape!

There’s trophies set upon a shelf I wonder what they mean
The walls are a soft yellow but the place is pretty clean
Strange objects hung up everywhere, it seems there is no doubt
That its going to take some thinking if I’m to find the way out.
I take a glass of liquid, its colour a light-brown
I’m sure that it will help me so I quickly drink it down
Look at a physics puzzle where you knock about some balls
Then I take some arrows and I throw them at the walls
There’s one wall in particular, set with a target round
Perhaps with more brown liquid its true purpose will be found
See squares upon the tables, on them glasses I arrange
Though I try them full and empty they don’t seem to bring a change
And all of this brown liquid is just making me feel funny
Not to mention that acquiring it is taking all my money
My balance turning wobbly, my words becoming slarred
This game they call “Escape the Pub!” is really, really hard.

Not performed because it turned out half the group were uncultured philistines that had never heard of this Ronnie Hilton classic (with quality mice-on-head dancing) :P

There once was a meet-up in old Amsterdam

There once was in Holland a very nice man
His name was tsa, he had a thought one day
He turned this thought into a quite cunning plan
Hold a forum meet-up in old Amsterdam

CHORUS

And so they came,
There
From here and there
From everywhere
To there
An AG forum meet-up
Well I declare
Meeting of forumites extraordinaire
Oh yeah

Along came Maruca, Jelena as well
With husband and offspring, saw fun in the offing
As well as that colourful bloke, stepurhan
To the forum meet-up in old Amsterdam

CHORUS

Luna Sevithiainen also came along
And Jazhara7, her clothes Gothic heaven
Every single one an adventuring fan
At the forum meet-up in old Amsterdam

CHORUS

They took a canal trip and went for a meal
That great chap tsa, arranged for a good day
They all sang in chorus “How lucky we are
With our forum meet-up in Amsterdam, ya!”

CHORUS

So for a good day out, please take my advice
Join a forum meet-up, they are really nice.

I also did No Nonsense Nonsonnets numbers 46 and 47, which will appear in due course.

haha I love it, Step. And I really love your signature sonnet. That's so me, and so was your previous one about an unanswered post. I need a collection of your no-nonsense sonnets. :)

The fun thing is that I remember my father singing the Dutch version of that song when I was about 3, 4 years maybe. He sang it a lot with toddler-me.
It surprised me so much to find out there is actually an English version of it.

About the Escape! poem: reading it is fun, but the way Step recited it is just priceless :D I hope Maruca still has the video somewhere.

I like the one about the very nice man the most :D

Edit: and that clip: was that actually filmed in Amsterdam? I recognize nothing of it, and the building looks to me a lot like the Town Hall of Gouda (you know Jelena, from the cheese ;) ). What do you say Luna?

I've never been to Gouda, so I don't know if it is the Town Hall of Gouda, but I'd also say it's not Amsterdam. Especially not old Amsterdam. It could be some place surrounding Amsterdam (it resembles places like near Koog-Zaandijk or , or somehwere around Alkmaar).

It's worth it; they have a beautiful town hall and church. Somewhere around Christmas they have 'candle nights.' The whole town is then lit with candles. Candle nights may have to do with the fact that there is a large candle factory in Gouda :D.

I can't help you with that one. It was just a clip I pulled up from YouTube.

You've set her off now, tsa. :)

tsa 04-19-2010 06:55 AM

Yeah, as soon as the cloud has disappeared she will be back! :D

colpet 04-19-2010 12:19 PM

Looks like you all had a wonderful time. Thanks for posting some pictures. :)

Maruca 04-24-2010 02:08 PM

Sorry guys I am playing the absent member again. :)

Ok: Tsa said you want to put the videos on youtube Steph? Go ahead, feel free to use them.

Until Tuesday latest I will upload the few fotos I've made on my FLICKR and send everyone who attended a link to a section where you can see them.

Gouda sounds good, next meeting of the AGs could be held there... all though Jelena might have to be dugged out of the cheese-storage rooms...:-)
