Some of the cast of Red Dwarf are no strangers to illegality...

I LOVE Blackadder, from which that is taken. lol But not as much as "Red Dwarf". And yeah, Craig Charles was busted for drugs. But I still love him.

I've been a pretty big fan of Red Dwarf for decades. I haven't seen it in a while though.

That is the weirdest little show but I used to watch it years ago along with The Young Ones. Some British humor can be "lost" on some of us Americans, but the longer I watched Red Dwarf, the more I found myself laughing. I used to watch it on American PBS too, along with shows like Fawlty Towers, Monty Python, etc.

Somehow Red Dwarf had a depressing effect on me when I watched it years ago. The whole idea of being alone in a uncomfortable spaceship, never being able to return home. The few people aboard weren't exactly very warm personalities either. No women.
I'm getting depressed thinking about it!

Wuh? Wottabout Christine Kochanski, eh? She made enough appearances even while she was dead to warrant some notice.

Plus, being a woman doesn't automatically equate to having a warm personality. I mean, look at me, for instance.

Yay a Red Dwarf thread! I havent heard anyone mention Kryten yet (my personal fav). Robert Llewellyn has his own youtube channel which he updates regularly http://www.youtube.com/user/bobbyllew and his own website with his own web series car pool on his site http://www.youtube.com/user/bobbyllew. The vids are always entertaining and he often talks about red dwarf, escpecially the new episodes they're making

Mr Flibble, poor Krytie but I lolled hard at the line "I appear to have a medium sized fire axe stuck in my back" classic Kryten.

I loved Kryten's lines when Rimmer was trying to take him over in that episode.

Lol yeah that whole episode was great, I wouldn't mind a shot of the luck virus, if only it was real.

Are you excited about the new special?! I'm in the US, so I won't be able to see it... Unless it gets on the internet afterwards or something.

I'm sure some clever spark will put it on the net, don't know how to do it myself but theres a website I know where u can find anything (Not sure I should say the name of the site as I don't know how legal it is), shame the bbc arent making it though as you'd be able to watch it on the iplayer which is pretty good. Cant wait for April

You know, it's funny you mention this, because even though I found myself eventually enjoying the show, it also had a bit of a depressing effect on me when I watched it too. Not sure why that is. The show could feel kind of "lonely" sometimes. Of course, I tend to be a melancholy person anyway. Not sure if any of you remember the TV show Land Of The Lost, but that show used to depress the hell out of me too, even though I enjoyed watching it. LOL. |

Did you guys in America get to see the pilot of the America version of the show, I saw abit of it and was kinda horrified. But I love the original and the best, not sure what my favourite series or even episode is.

Hmm...no, I didn't get to see the American pilot, but I want to just to laugh at it. The original was best, and to "remake" it is blasphomy!!!

Did anyone else watch the first new episode?
I thought it was pretty good, though the absense of a laughter track felt a bit weird and it seemed to go VERY quickly (probably due to the bastard channel putting the advert break about nine minutes in ). What did you others thinketh?

It was dire.
It was great seeing the ship and the characters again, but it was dreadfully unfunny. I don't think I laughed once. Absence of the laughter track didn't help.
