The photo thread

Put the photo(s) that you are the most proudest of here! I will start with the lizard I shot last week in Delft in Reptile Zoo Serpo:

Jelena 02-01-2009 10:37 AM

One of my favourite pictures from last summer.

Is it your cat, Jelena?

It's awesome! I believe it's a she, by the way, so I'm going to say that she has the cutest ears :)

tsa 02-01-2009 11:08 AM

She looks very young and playfull. Beautiful shot!

No, friends of us has a cat which got kittens last summer and this is one of them. It's a he btw. He now lives a comfy life on the west coast with a retired couple. He is indeed awesome.

Thank you. :)
I wanted to keep him so bad, but the rest of the family doesn't agree with me on having a cat. :frown:

rlpw 02-01-2009 03:58 PM

Those are great. I'm not the camera person in the family Mrs.R is.http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3100/...5752cf5b_b.jpg Here is a pic she took before we left KY

D.C. 02-01-2009 06:40 PM

That's a thing of beauty, rlpw. So crisp. You've got a great photo there too, Jelena. I'm sorry you couldn't keep the critter. (I think I've got more photos of my cats than I have of people. Hmmm, does that make me a crazy cat person? :D)

This was taken on the London Eye early last year. Probably not the most original subject and composition, but I kind of like it...

Here's an alternate shot. I can't decide which one I like better...

tsa: I would complement your photo too, but I've got an irrational fear of lizards. ;) The colours are incredible, though.

Thanks! Finally someone who says something about my picture. I will post another one soon, with no reptiles on it.

Edit: I like the first picture you posted most, D.C. It's more dynamic than the second one; you see the people in the pod next to yours enthousiastically walking around, pointing, and deciding what is the most interesting thing to look at. How high is that thing anyway? It looks like you can see the curvature of the Earth from up there!

Ouch, sorry tsa! I looked at it and thought it was beautiful, but forgot tell you.
me

rlpw
That's beautiful!
DC
I also like the first picture best for the same reasons tsa mentioned.
Also, magnificent view.

Lee in Limbo 02-02-2009 07:54 AM

That's a very vivid shot, tsa.

I like that shot of the cat. Very sweet, Jelena.

I'm a great fan of lovely winterscape photos, rlpw. Your wife has a good eye.

And I'm with the majority, DC. The first shot is more dynamic, which translates as 'more interesting'. Nice work.

Sorry, I don't have any particularly good photos on my computer right now. Lots of bog standard stuff, but nothing noteworthy.

AndreaDraco83 02-02-2009 08:06 AM

tsa, I said anything because, like D.C., I abhor lizards and such.

D.C.: beautiful pictures. I love London and you captured it well!

D.C. 02-02-2009 06:10 PM

Thanks for the kind words. After considering it some more I think you guys are right, the first one is more interesting. I think I liked the framing of the London Eye against the backdrop in the second one, but the first is just a generally stronger picture.

Andrea: I'm glad I'm not the only one with the severe Lizard phobia. ;)

tsa: Hmmm, the official website says it's 135 metres. Greatest view in London, though. (Although a local probably knows somewhere better and less expensive. :)) Can't wait to see what else you've got, seems you're quite the photographer. :D

http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...e/IMG_7113.jpg

I took a photography class at Uni in '06. This was the first time I actually got my hands on a really nice camera, instead of just a standard digital one. Unfortunately I only had it booked for two days, so didn't have nearly enough time to learn it properly.

I kinda like this shot. It's an old bridge near where I live. Back in the day it used to be the only way to get to the other side. (Now there's two modern multi-lane bridges, which you can't see...) It kind of reminds me of another time. People fish off the side now and it's closed for cars. Very flimsy and scary to walk across. ;) I was going to submit it with washed out, faded colours but ended up just submitting this instead. (I can show you guys the photoshopped version if you're interested, but I don't want to be that guy who posts two versions of the same picture every time. :D)

Yeah I love taking pictures. That's why I started the thread. Glad to see it being picked up by others.

That one is not as good as the first one IMO. What is it that you wanted to show on that picture?

Hmmm...Don´t really know what I wanted to show, just thought the garden there was so nice, and the old "cart" looked nice...

tsa 02-04-2009 11:55 AM

I took this one years ago and I still like it.
