Found a new path yesterday. It rose up a steep hill between houses. About halfway up this view framed by trees appeared. (Pity about the pole)
This one I took ages ago. I know I meant to post it on here back then but I can't see that I've done it. I just like the calmness of the scene.

The second picture is just magnificent! It's got a whole lot going on while it's still - like you said - very calm. And then you have the crosses of the gravestones with the crossing road and the whole downhill leading to the faraway scene, making the perspective kinda wonky (you rarely see that in real life, only in animations etc.). Great!

I agree with Uptimist: the second picture is way way better than the first. It tells a story.

The first picture was just a surprise find that I thought I'd snap. The second picture definitely had more thought put into it. Came out better than I expected as well.

You left some of the wires in (on the right hand side)
Also, it really freaks me out when people alter reality like that.

Step-I love the first picture. I live in a city, but I loved looking at "country scenes", if that makes sense. We had a tampoline in the backyard, and I would go lay on it, facing up towards the sky. We had a few trees in the backyard as well, so when I looked up, I could see the sky between trees, and for some reason, that image has always been close to me, and your picture reminds me of it.
I don't think any of that made sense, but your picture meant a lot to me, thanks Step.

I think I get what you mean Fantasy. It sounds like the same sort of feeling that made me take the picture in the first place. The image has a country feel to it despite the fact I know it is surrounded by houses on all sides. Glad you liked it.

I uploaded a bunch of pictures but they weren't resized and when I tried to do that Photobucket bugged out, so let's see if this actually works...
(Edit): Well, here's a few, I was having trouble with a couple more. I'll get back with some of the rest later. These are also totally random, so there's not really any connection, unfortunately. These two are from the church where Jelena went to back when she was in Helsinki. The one she asked me about (built in rock). Here's a few more from there: http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC03508.jpg http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC03486.jpg http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC03499.jpg http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC03478.jpg http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC03492.jpg I wish we had (in addition to the ones we have) those show/hide spoiler tags. They're great for pictures. Last edited by UPtimist; 05-06-2011 at 08:06 AM. |

I like the first one (after rotating it to an angle of 180. Upside down gives a different perspective, but it's kind of dizzy) Would make a nice landscape wallpaper!

The Temppeliaukio Church is definitely one of my favourite buildings in the world. (The parts of the world that I have visited anyway. ) I was just thinking the other day how much I wanted to visit Helsinki in spring or summer.
From all your pics I have to say the key is the one that I like best. Can I have it! I love to use pictures all you talented people of this forum post as desktop on my computer.

Thank you! I really do love to take pics. I still wish I could be able to get some teaching in an art school or something, but I'll have to see how that goes...
