AG Facebook group
If you're on Facebook, come join the AG group!
http://www.new.facebook.com/group.php?gid=29070826503 The group is just for fun. Obviously the discussion board is going to be dead as we're all posting here, but for those who have a profile on Facebook it might be a nice way to hook up with friends from the AG forum. :) |
I've got too many trust issues to join the group, but you guys look mighty fine. ;) :D
|
I'll probably join but don't expect active membership there from me. Whilst I have a Facebook account I don't really like the way it's set up. There is too much stuff with too little sensible navigation.

Joined I have.

Plus, I'm not really sure what the point of Facebook is, besides "collecting" people you sort of vaguely know. It feels very extravert-centred in that it's designed for small talk, whereas I like to have my conversations centred around a subject, which is why I tend to prefer forums like this one. Facebook just wasn't made for people like me. |
I've added myself, but i doubt i'll use it. :P I hardly ever use Facebook anyway. I just can't be bothered with things like Myspace, Bebo or Facebook tbh. Like Squinky said, i'd sooner talk about something specific and a forum's ideal for that. As for chit chat with certain friends, i'd sooner do that face-to-face or over the phone.

I almost forgot I have an account there.

That requires you to know the person's email address, and even then it's not all that reliable in my experience. Besides, isn't the purpose of email spam?
|
That's like saying the purpose of the internet is porn...
And personally, if a person's worth keeping in touch with over the internet on a regular basis, I'll know their e-mail address. Anything else feels like an unsolicited intrusion. This is pretty much why most Facebook "friends" I collect sort of just appear then disappear. There's a lot of "I could say something, but it's been so long and I'm not sure we'd have that much in common anymore..." Anyway, in the unlikely event that people do send me Facebook messages, they'll get to me via e-mail anyway, so it's pretty much the same deal. |
I'm in. Oddly the t-shirt in my profile picture is one I got from Sage on these very forums.

I've ever only had a Facebook account for about a half an hour when I checked out what it was actually about, but then I just deleted the account, as I didn't really have a need for it. But if I'm ever made to join Facebook (which I doubt), I'll be sure to join in (don't expect a picture from me though). |
Oh man, I love Facebook. :) It's a great way to stay in touch with friends and family from around the world.
For one I really like posting and reading status updates. It immediately gives me something to talk about the next time I see or chat with that person, and vice versa. It's also great to be able to see people's photo albums. You can also post those on flickr, but it's different when you see yourself or your friends tagged in an album. It makes me want to check them out and comment on. Plus I get invites to events through Facebook regularly so I just have to click a button to let people know if I'm going to be there. You clearly don't need Facebook to stay in touch with your closest friends, but for managing your wider social circle it's really nice. I am probably more extraverted than the average person though. |
Yeah, I'm going to update my profile to include some photo's. Im usually too lazy for such things, hence you'll always see the same avatars and photo's used everywhere I go.

This was a rather fun gadget.

Interesting group. But why so little activity? Is it because we're all here? LOL
