The Assignment thread
We already have a Choices, a Three Questions, and a Rumour thread that are great fun. However, since we are a bunch of very smart and very creative people here ( ) I think it's time for something more difficult: the Assignment thread! The rules are as follows:
Someone posts an assignment for a volunteer to accomplish. The assignment can be anything, as long as the result can be posted in a thread. So for instance: 'Post a picture of your children on the roof of your car' is OK, but 'Go sit on the toilet for half an hour' is not OK. The person who posts the result of an accomplished assignment can also post a new assignment, or pass the old one on to the next person, as often happens with the Three Questions in the Three Questions thread. I will give you the first assignment: Post a picture of the weirdest kitchen utensil you have. Good luck! |

I was given this measuring cup after my group won a prize for design innovation for our human-computer interaction course's term project last year. It's very handy. Post a picture of yourself wearing your underwear over your pants.

I sure hope not. But if nobody picks up an assignment I'll just think of a new one that is easier to do or less ambarrassing. Actually, we've had quite a few media coverage of people who didn't get jobs or even lost their jobs because of compromising pictures of them on the internet. So I fear the worst for Squinky's assignment

Well, you don't have to show your face, you know.

I know, but still... Let's wait until monday, and if no one has posted a picture then you think of another assignment, OK?
By the way, nice cup! What is the metal ring for exactly? |

On my home computer I have a picture of me wearing pants (UK definition) on my head. Will that suffice for the assignment?

Your head is above your trousers, I assume, therefore it should be allowed.

Here is a picture of me wearing my pants "over" my Next assignment is to write a post containing containing at least one word begining with each letter of the alphabet. Whilst it doesn't have to make sense it must be made up of complete sentences rather than just lists of words. So Not Allowed : Wriggle Xenophobic Yacht Zebra . Allowed (but silly) : The xenophobic zebra wriggled aboard a yacht.

A buxom choristor dressed elaborately, frolicked gaily. Her impressive jewelled kimono left many new opera producers quivering. Replete, she talked uninteliglibly. "Verily, whales x-ray yellow zebras."

I must confess, I am struggling to think of anything substantial, so my task is: create your own delicious cocktail, and present the recipe.

Not sure whether this qualifies as a cocktail since there's no spirits. It's perfect a warm summer day though.
Mix juice made of Elderflowers and lemon (1/3) with chilled white wine (2/3). Garnish with a frozen strawberry. I'm going away for the weekend so I'm happy to give the assignment to whomever feels up to it, should Jatsie approve of my drink.

I don't drink at the moment, but I see there isn't any rule here saying I have to actually test and confirm the recipe works, is there? Then I shall attempt to pull a Dijkstra; how about:
3 parts mango wine 3 parts pomegranate juice 3 parts papaya juice 1 part brandy Wait, here's something I have tried. It doesn't have to be a liquid, does it? I don't think it's elaborate enough though... 1 part fortified wine ~4 parts yogurt, or maybe kefir Maybe something more in between those two: 1 cup of red wine 1/8 cup of rum 1 extra large strawberry or 3 small strawberries, or better yet, a small handful of woodland strawberries (first mix these together thoroughly, then add everything else) 1/8 cup of coconut milk 1/2 cup of kefir Maybe someone could do me a big favour and test the first or third of these? Is it my turn? Well, if it isn't I guess I'll just owe you one drink recipe.
Hmmm, better just make it more general. Okay, take some old bits of clothing that you're about to throw out, and turn it into a different type of clothing. OR Take an AOL CD or whatever else is common junk mail today, and cut it into a Shuriken. |

Let me refer your question to an expert: likshk04.wav.mp3.zip
But I've realized that that would be rather pointless and childish, so I'll add a third alternative: Take an ridiculous or otherwise amusing or interesting commercial, or a news clip, commedy sketch or the like and subtitle it in another language. |
