My Web Series!
I just launched a web series called Take Me Back that I've been working on for ages with a friend of mine. I'll be putting up a new episode every week for 10 weeks. So go take a look and if you like it, tell your friends! I'm eager to know what you folks in the AG community will think of it.
www.tmbtheseries.com Thanks!! (btw, I'm Joe, not Seth, if anyone's curious... we co-wrote, co-directed and co-edited the project together while I did the cinematography and he acted) Last edited by Flyboy; 04-08-2008 at 11:50 PM. |

Very promising. I won't miss the following episodes. I love your work, (still keeping a Flyboy picture as desktop ) it's something about the light, the colours and the way you work with details.

The cinematography is actually really good. What kind of camera did you use?
The storytelling seems a bit different (although I don't watch much series, web or otherwise). What's your inspiration?

And I can't say there was much inspiration story-wise. The two of us watch tons of movies. I threw together the initial idea and we just worked from there. |

Cool, that's the same camera that I used for my film (although I shot it on memory cards in HD). You used an interesting picture format (wider then 16 : 9).

2.35:1. I like it wide (the more pretentious, the better - or something). Is your film online somewhere?

Dude, this is awesome. It's excellent on all levels, technically, editing and photo-direction wise, in addition to interesting dialog and perfomances. Keep it up.

That was fantastic! The cinematography, the acting, the lighting, the editing... all astoundingly good and worthy of a feature film. And the premise is interesting; I like the weird mask guy, and there's plenty of foreshadowing about the weird gizmo. Is it some timetravelling device with which he can go back to 'repair' all the scenes we saw earlier; getting the girl most of all? I'll keep watching if you keep posting them

Thanks again for all the comments!!! You're very nice/kind/generous and all the rest, so thanks!!
And don't worry, the whole thing is shot, scored and edited, so we're not gonna miss a beat year. A lot of planning went into this. I'll keep whoever's interesting up to date on how things are going with the series. |

I'm sorry, did you say "with few resources"? Tools much be much better that I thought if you can produce something of this calibre with few resources.
Keep it up.

Well, it's all relative, I suppose. We had a camera, 2 or 3 lights, a mic and a reasonably small budget, considering the length of the project. Most notable though, was the fact the we had no crew, so every detail was taken care of by myself and my friend, hence it taking 16 months to complete. With gaffers, grips, producers, ADs, assistant editors, etc... and of course money, these things tend to move quite a bit faster.
The episodes may be a short, but there's a lot of blood and sweat that went into each one, not to sound too dramatic... |

But the quality tends to suffer if you have to to everything but I have to say that you managed to pull it off nicely. Try getting some cash for your next project (by the looks of this it shouldn't be a problem).

Another great episode. Especially the neat little storytelling techniques used are cool; the cross-cutting between the prisoner and his weird doppelganger and the radio telling of gruesome (foreboding?) things while the music has that 'Amélie' vibe of French quaintness. Good stuff.
