Adventure Game Trading Thread

Have games to trade?

I'm surprised a thread like this hasn't been started on this site yet. (at least, I didn't find one, so far) I figured the Chit Chat forum might be a good place for this type of thread, since the Adventure Forum seems basically meant to discuss specific adventure games. (you may use this thread to list your own games for trade if you like as well. This thread is intended for everyone, not just my games to trade.)

If you do list games to trade, try to list the condition that they are in, and any additional computer or game console specs that might be required to play the games you list. Thank you, and have fun trading!

These are the adventure games I've played so far, and I am looking to trade these listed below, for other adventure games: (I'm up for all types, if you want to trade something with me! Don't hesitate to ask!)

Nancy Drew, Treasure In The Royal Tower
Recommended OS: Windows 95/98/ME/XP
166 MHz Pentium Processor
(200 MHz recommended) . 16 MB of RAM
16-bit DirectX Compatible Color Graphics Video Card
16-bit DirectX Compatible Sound Card
8x CD-ROM Drive . Mouse and Speakers

Keepsake

Recommended OS: Windows ME/2000/XP
CPU: 1.5 GHz Intel Pentium 4 or Equivalent
RAM: 512MB
Free Hard Disk Space: 1.5 GB
CD/DVD- ROM: 32x
Video: 64 MB 3D Accelerated Video Card
DirectX: 9.0c Compatible
Sound: 100% DirectX Compatible Sound Card
Input: Keyboard, Mouse, and Speakers

Both games have only been played only once and are in "like new" condition. Keepsake is a three disk set. Both come in their original game cases with original covers.

Game console versions: (note, I only have a Playstation 2, but since it's backwards compatible, I was able to play these Playstation 1 games on it)

Playstation 1 version of the original Myst (1 disk in jewel case only, no case cover or box) - has scratches, bought used. Unfortunately, it freezes on the very last part of the game. (the Channelwood Section) However, it plays beautifully up until that part. Also, you may have to restart the game a few times to get it to play. It does want to freeze in the very beginning sometimes. (heck, you don't even have to trade me anything for it. I'll just mail it to you since it does have some "glitches") Maybe you can get the disk "resurfaced" so that the last part will play. I never looked into that option myself.

Playstation 1 version of Riven, Myst II. (five disk set in original game CD case, no box) I bought it used, and only noticed some mild scratches here and there. All five disks played fine on our Playstation 2, and I had no technical or freezing issues with any of them.

Playstation 2 version of Myst III: Exile - bought this used at a gaming store. Game still in original box. Game was in "like new" condition". Played with no technical issues.

We also have an X-Box and I played these on it...

X-Box version of Myst IV: Revelation - bought this used at a gaming store. (in clear plastic DVD type case, no game cover or box) Game was in "like new" condition. Played with no technical difficulties.

X-Box version of Syberia I - bought this used at a gaming store. Game still in original box. Game was in "like new" condition. Played with no technical difficulties.

X-Box version of Syberia II - bought this used at a gaming store. Game still in original box. Game was in "like new" condition. Played with no technical difficulties.

I will add more games to this list as I play them. For, example, all the games I own below, have not been played yet, but I will be adding them to my trade list in the future, after I have finished with them. Keep these games below in mind, if you want to trade for them eventually. I am currently playing, The Longest Journey. (I have the XP compatible version)

I currently own the PC versions of:

Dreamfall
The Longest Journey
Burrow Hill
Scratches
Myst: Uru, The path To The Shell Expansion Pack. (I'm looking for the original Uru, Ages Beyond Myst, since I can't play The Path To The Shell expansion pack without it first. I didn't realize this when I bought the Uru expansion pack.)
Dark Fall: Lights Out
Journey, To The Center Of The Earth

(all of these were bought new, in their original game cases/box
es)

I wanted to list the adventure games I currently have, to give you and idea of things I might be interested in playing if you have something to trade. I'm pretty much up for anything, since I love many types of adventure games, not just the Myst and Syberia games, which are my favorites.

Here are the specs of my computer, if you want to send me something older:
OS: Microsoft Windows XP
Media Center Edition
Version 2002
Service Pack 2

Gateway GT5032
AMD Athlon (tm) 64 X2 Dual
Core Processor 4200+
2.20 GHz, 896 MB of RAM

Supposedly, we have the cheapest video card that came with this computer, but it played Keepsake ok, which is a newer game, so it must be acceptable. I'm also playing an older game The Longest Journey on our computer, with no problems so far.

Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 6100

(I'm especially looking for Myst V:End Of Ages, or Uru:Ages Beyond Myst on my wish list to trade for, but I'll take any type of adventure game since I've still played so few compared to the rest of you.)

MystGirl 03-09-2008 03:39 PM

Sorry, had to add a correction above. I originally posted that I had the Playstation 2 version of Myst IV:Revelation. I checked it out and found it's actually an X-Box version. (sorry about that)

tsa 03-14-2008 09:37 AM

I'd like to trade Keepsake, but how does sending adventure games from Europe to the US and vice versa work? Is it worth the trouble?

MystGirl 03-14-2008 11:00 PM

Sure, why not? What are you interested in trading for Keepsake? (sorry, haven't been on here in a few days) Over here, we send stuff "media mail" which is the cheapest (and slowest option)

Let me know what game you're looking to unload and I'll send you Keepsake. PM me with your mailing info if you like. It's up to you.

MystGirl 03-16-2008 11:40 PM

I will continue to list more games, as I finish them, if anyone would like to trade something for them.

I finally finished The Longest Journey this weekend (great game!) It came in a box set with Dreamfall, but I could send The Longest Journey to anyone who's interested, in a separate plain jewel CD case, if anyone would like it. I can't play Dreamfall yet, due to fact, that I didn't realize my computer's video card is too crappy to play it. So Dreamfall will have to wait.

But, The Longest Journey is ready to go, if anyone wants it. It's from 2000, I believe? It's a Windows XP compatible version though, even though it's an older game. I had no trouble playing it on my computer which is about two years old.

I also just finished Barrow Hill, if anyone would like to trade something for it.

Minimum System Requirements for Barrow Hill are:
OS: Windows 98 (second Edition)
CPU: Pentium III 450 MHz or better processor
RAM: 128 MB RAM (256 MB recommended)
CD-ROM drive
Video: SVGA Graphics Card or better with 32-bit color (32-bit color at 800x600)
Sound: DirectX9 Compatible Sound Card
*It is also Windows ME/2000/XP compatible.*

tsa 03-18-2008 11:31 PM

I'm also interested in the English version of TLJ. I sent you a PM but maybe you missed it.

MystGirl 03-19-2008 05:45 PM

Just finished Scratches. (if you're wondering how I finish these games so quickly, I do tend to lean on walkthroughs quite heavily. I'm very impatient! Heh)

The minimum system requirements for Scratches are:

800MHz CPU
128 MB RAM
16 MB OpenGL- compatible video card
24x CD-ROM drive
Sound Card

If anyone would like to trade something for this, just drop me a PM. :)

I must have missed that PM somewhere. (sorry!) I'll check out the list you offered in your recent PM for trades and see what we can work out. :)

MystGirl 03-19-2008 06:36 PM

To everyone reading this thread, join us! List your games to trade here! (tsa and I can't possibly be the only members on here who have games to trade, you silly gooses!)

List your games to trade! Join the fun! (Trading games is fun, I tellz ya!) Why are you holding on to those games? They're just collecting dust! Even if they have a place in your heart, and you can't bare the thought of trading some of them, ask yourself, how often are you playing games you've already played? Share them with other gamers!

The other benefits of trading games? It's free! (except for the mailing fee of course) However, if you send them media mail, or at the bulk book rate, you can mail them dirt cheap! I mail stuff to people that way all the time, and even though it takes longer to get there, it gets there eventually! :)

So list your games to trade! PC, Wii, Playstation 1,2, and 3, X-Box, X-Box 360, Nintendo DS!!!

What are you waiting for? Think of the hours of happiness you'll get and new friends you might make, by trading those games just sitting by your computer collecting dust.

Heh, sorry, I'm a tad corny. But seriously, join us guys! List your games to trade. Don't worry about how old they are. There's always someone, somewhere, looking to enjoy older games as well, not just newer ones. (like me for example. There are so many older games I've never played since I only started playing adventure games two years ago. Anything older then two years is "older" to someone like me! Hee!)

Even if there's no one to trade with you yet, if this thread grows, eventually, there will be! So list the games you'd like to get rid of, and one day, someone will see that very list on here, and think to themselves, eureka! They have a game I want! And they'll have a game you want! (see how this goes? Heh. Yes, I'm super corny, but just trying to send out a little "trading motivation".) Ok, that's enough of my corniness for now.

tsa 03-19-2008 08:31 PM

I will list the games I have too when I have time.

Tuesdays Gone 03-20-2008 07:58 AM

I think this trading thread is a great idea. I used to do a lot of trading back in the late 90's via the Usenet newsgroups (anyone remember those?). It's a great way to pass on games you've finished and try other games without spending alot of $$. Hopefully it will catch on here.

Thanks,

Tony.

bulldog 03-20-2008 01:37 PM

I'm with tsa, when I have the time I will list my games :)

MystGirl 03-21-2008 11:44 PM

Cool. Glad to see a little more interest in this thread. (Maybe I should have posted this in the Adventure forum, but I wasn't sure if that was the appropriate forum.)

No hurry by the way guys. I'm just a pest. (heh) Post your game lists when you have time.

:)

MystGirl 03-23-2008 07:34 PM

Just finished Journey To The Center Of The Earth if anyone is interested.

Minimum system requirements are:

Windows 98/ME/2000/XP
Pentium III 500 MHz
64 MB RAM
16 MB DirectX compatible video card
CD-ROM drive 8X
700 MB free disc space

[sarcasm] So MacOS isn't allowed? [/sarcasm]

Hmm... I'm not sure what games I would be able to trade. I can only think of two right now that I don't play and don't want to, but I have to check with my brother about them.

tsa 03-24-2008 12:40 AM

OK, my lists of AGs. I'll split them in sections.

Section: the very old. Those games surely don't work on XP.
  1. Sorcerers get all the girls
  2. Spellcasting party pak. All three spellcasting games: Sorcerers get all the girls, The sorcerer's appliance, and Spring break, together on a CD, in a box with maps and a hint book.
  3. Dragon lore
  4. The lately deceased Arthur C. Clarke's Rama
  5. Hand of fate

Section: the old. Your mileage may vary.
  1. Dune (apparently very bad; I never played it)
  2. Starship Titanic (Dutch box but the game and manual are in English)
  3. Zork Grand Inquisitor
  4. Odyssee: the search for Ulysses
  5. Atlantis II (in a box without the wrapping)
  6. Secret of the Nautilus

Section: the (fairly) new. These should run on XP without problems.
  1. Post Mortem
  2. Syberia II
  3. Schizm
  4. Bad Mojo

That's it!

Looks interesting. Anything in my list that you'd like in return?

tsa 03-24-2008 06:05 AM

Maybe someone can move this thread to the Adventure section? Thanks in advance!

Jackal 03-24-2008 07:17 AM

Nope, the thread belongs here.

Melanie68 03-24-2008 07:29 AM

To add, this is from FAQ's.

We want to keep the adventure forum for discussion of adventure games. :)

tsa 03-24-2008 07:08 PM

Ok.

Of course silly. List all the Mac OS games ya want. :)

You have Schizm??? Me want. Journey To the Center Of The Earth for Schizm? (I haven't mailed your other stuff yet) Let me know! :)

MystGirl 03-24-2008 09:31 PM

Better hurry folks, my games are going fast. So far, folks have claimed my Keepsake, The Longest Journey, Barrow Hill, and Syberia II. (and someone is interested in Scratches)

Just wanted to update my "games claimed" list, so far. (some folks PM me privately for requests instead of requesting them in this thread. Thank you all who have been interested so far.)

That's fine! I'll mail you your stuff tomorrow, so I make a package of 3 games.

I sent you a private PM reply too, but if you change your mind on Keepsake, I could hold it for you, if you have something that comes up on your list eventually that I might want. (I'm in no hurry to get rid of it so I don't mind keeping it for you if you only want The Longest Journey, and Journey To The Center Of the Earth for Now)

(Schizm is an ok substitute for GKIII.)

Thanks! :)

Starflux 03-26-2008 12:04 PM

I've got the rare game The Fish Files for the Gameboy Color. I will gladly trade it in for the treasure man calls Sanitarium. It was released in budget a while back in the states, so I gather perhaps someone's willing and interested =)

If you had only posted these sooner... games go fast. I had Syberia II and Scratches a few days ago. Now, others have already claimed them.

There's a good game trading site, that someone else on here, recommended to me. I'm trying a few things on there myself, in addition to my trading thread here. www.gametz.com. You might find Syberia II and Scratches there, since my copies here are already gone.

tsa 03-30-2008 12:24 AM

I have Hand of Fate AND Starship Titanic, and I might be interested in Crime Stories. PM me!

ShadeJackrabbit 03-30-2008 02:15 PM

Okay, Crime Stories is being traded, so sorry if anybody else wanted it.

Davies 06-10-2008 04:08 AM

I just went to Cash Converters yesterday and grabbed up an armload of games. Unfortunately, I didn't look hard enough at one of them, so I now need to offload:

Total Distortion FOR MACINTOSH
Dated 1995. Not only is it in the original box, but even in the original shrink-wrap to keep the freshness in!

Happy to sell or trade. Make me an offer! (I prefer games capable of running on Windows 98.)

Davies 09-05-2008 03:12 AM

Right, I'm tired of seeing this box sit here, so let's recap.

Total Distortion for MAC only

Apparently a rock video - business sim - adventure type game. It sounds really interesting, but I can't play it because I don't have an Apple Mac.

Dated 1995. On CD-ROM. I'll post the detailed specs if anyone wants them. Brand-new condition, in big box, still cellophaned.

I would be delighted to give this away to anyone willing to cover the postage costs, just to see it go to an appreciative home (and out from underfoot).
