Default Any Norweigen film enthusiasts here?

This may be sort of a long shot but will anyone go see Kautokeino 1852? I believe it will première in Norway tonight. I would have gone there myself and see it but I have to much work to do.

Seems like it will take a while for it to be released in the neighbouring countries (and the rest of the world too for that matter).

Here's the trailer so you know what I'm babbling about.

I don't like norwegian films. Seems like the only things we manage to produce are dramas, romantic dramas, historical dramas and person dramas and really bad black humour movies.

I didn't like Elling, which got rave reviews, the "Slipp Jimmy fri" trailer irritate the heck out of me, and the recent horror films released have so predictable story that I bet I can write down who dies when and how without seeing the movie.

Having said that I'm actually going to see Kautokeino oppgjøret, when it's shown on tv.. I'm just not very interested in historical dramas, during this period of my life I prefer watching "feel good" movies when going to the cinema, I think 90% of the movies I've seen these last years have been "children's" movies or feel good movies. I'm assuming this movie is going to go into history here in Norway, making it a must-see, it's getting rave reviews from every newspaper and is being referred to as the one must-see movie this year..

I've been waiting over 10 years for this film, ever since I saw Veiviseren on TV. I think Gaup is more aiming for an historical adventure film then drama. Don't know about the "feel good"-factor though.

Which Norweigen horror films have been released lately? I have totally missed those. Would be interesting to check them out although I haven't missed much according to you.

Fritt Vilt is a traditional horror movie about youths on a mountain trip being killed off one by one (fritt vilt two is supposed to come next year) and Rovdyr has just been released. It's apparently a cross between saw-movies and paranoia movies (I haven't seen it and absolutely don't want to)

Fritt vilt trailer: http://www.filmweb.no/trailere/article104828.ece
Rovdyr trailer: http://www.filmweb.no/trailere/article134791.ece
(for non-norwegian viewers, you have to choose trailer size from small to full-screen. The second row of four blue boxes are size options for other clips)

I like horror films but I'm not a big fan of slashers so I agree that those are always predictable (and they are all the same). I have actually seen the trailer for Fritt vilt before (forgot about that one). The best Norweigen film I've seen is still Veiviseren (actually one of the best ever, world wide). Hopefully Kautokeino will be just as good.

Have you seen and/or read "de dødes tjern" by André Bjerke? Psycological horror, he was an amazing writer..

Edit: oh, there are two norwegian film I've liked and watched several times; "Jakten på nyresteinen" and "flåklypa grand prix" (all the other Ivo Caprino animations are really good too)

No I haven't read that one, must check it out. But I actually saw Flåklypa Grand Prix when I was a kid. Don't remember much about it (not even the Swedish title), only that I liked it a lot back then.
