I mean, wow... Particularly looking at the French trailer... I wanna see this. Alas! for being in the cultural ass of US of A....

It's pretty easy to find here in California. Have you looked at smaller theatres around your area?

I still haven't seen it, though, because I can't afford theatre prices anymore. I'll rent it when it comes out on DVD.

I saw it last year when it was showing in Finland, great film! It's up for some Oscars now, I think?

yes it's up for an Oscar, but I haven't seen it.
I think it was showing only in the biggest cities in Finland.
Because it surely didn't come to my little town.

And I'd really like to see it soon.

Pappapisshu 02-22-2004 02:38 PM

I think it's showing here at the moment, or at least in a couple of weeks. I'll probably see it, looks gorgeous.

After I've seen Lost in Translation, though.

remixor 02-22-2004 03:20 PM

It's showing where I live. Kingz, have you checked to make sure it's not anywhere near you, or are you merely assuming?

Garyos 02-22-2004 03:26 PM

Damn, I should've watched this at the Bergen Film festival last year... I keep hearing about great film that I didn't see at that festival...

Isn't it up for two Oscars (best animated feature, best song?)... I thought I read it was up for best song as well as animated feature, but I'm too lazy to check. That might mean they'll get people to perform the song live during the Oscars which is kind of good, as it'll be far more entertaining than most of the "best song" performances, no matter how much whoever does the program will try to overinterpret the accompanying dance number, etc.

Kolzig 02-22-2004 05:42 PM

Yes Jake you are right.

The Triplets of Belleville is up for two Oscars.
Best animated feature film and best original song.

I can't tell if you're mocking me or not. :D

Tis indeed.

As for The Triplettes Of Belleville, my friends got it out of the video shop just last week and seemed to enjoy it alot. I meant to watch it but left it too late and it had been returned. If you enjoy it Kingz, lets us know and I might get it out again.

Lost in Translation was very nicely done, but a bit pointless, IMO...
And about the triplets of belleville, most of the people I know who've seen it (I haven't) have been rather disappointed.

Actually, that was probably the strength of the movie in my book. Just an ethereal portrayal of two jetlagged persons in unfamiliar surroundings.

Well, I would have done without the conventional love story, which distracted me from this (really neat) etheral atmosphere, and kept annoying me. Not enough so I couldn't enjoy the movie, but still... I'd say that she has a great talent as a film-maker, but not as great a talent as a writer.

Conventional...Huh?

Jake 02-23-2004 04:34 PM

I'm with Garyos.

remixor 02-23-2004 07:53 PM

As am I. It was hardly even a "love story" at all, much less a conventional one.
