I can't stand up for Elvis, except to say that he was the right man for the right moment. Imeancomonnow, his early days changed things. But later, yeah, yawn.

However, the Beatles I will stand up for. They had both the moment going for them and the talent to drive the genre into new areas. They were evolutionary and we own them a lot. You cant analyze their charts and claim them to be simply derivative--they are one of the best examples of a group that took contemporary into totally new areas and continued to do so for years.

They were most definitely innovative. I don't understand any viewpoints that counter that.

I second everything this man just said.

But I'll give Elvis a little more credit. Both were incredibly influential and you can be assured that today's music scene would be drastically different had neither come around (unless you'd like to argue that it was inevitable someone would popularize "black" music in the case of Elvis).

But I simply won't have any defamation of the Beatles. Maybe the rabid fans eating up all the myriad b-side and unreleased tracks and the whole Beatlemania thing are a little unnecessary. But listen to their later recordings (I say Revolver or Sgt. Peppers was their first essential album, others might say Help!) and you can really see how influential they were especially in terms of production.

Another unpopular opinion:
I think that porn has the potential to be a great art form.

I'll watch if you're in it.

My ideal porn film would just be an excellent love scene from a regular movie, but with the sex shown. I like to think that the people have some sort of romantic connection, that their passion is stemming from, just seeing two strangers going at it like bunnies feels empty to me. God, I'm such a woman, lol.

That's kind of my feeling, too. The problem with most every porn made is that they lack context. Just sex is fine, I guess, but it doesn't do much for me unless I'm able to at least infer some connection between the characters. Hence why I tend to find scenes with partners in real life (or scenes involved in a larger story) more powerful than just random bangbros-esque "hi my name's brian nice to meet you lets fuck" scenes. Or good acting, how they convey their facial expressions and eyes is really important.

I'm glad you agree.

One thing I struggle to get to grips with, is that in the gay community people apparently like to watch straight guys go at it. This is something that I can't understand at all. The "actors" seem totally uninterested in what they are doing, and are just going through the motions. Why that would turn anyone on perplexes me.
