Default Nolla, Nolla!

This was officially my last day at school. I feel tragically empty.

Usually the final years dress strangely for the occasion. I wore my Finnish army camouflage suit thingy. I even had the green beret and the metallic lion-figure attached to it. Then we rode around the little town, shouting "Nolla!" ("Zero!") - though I mostly shouted: "We're poor! I demand higher student allowances!"

A pretty boring day it was, all in all. But I still feel empty...

If it's any consolation, I can assure you that you still have years and years of studying ahead of you.

I bet something like "going to the school without studying" is a better consolation At least for me.

Most likely the rest of my life, well, depends on what I choose. But a 9 to 5 job is so not me.

That's why you should choose UNIVERSITY LIFE a.k.a. ACADEMIC FREEDOM - that warm, comfortable lull of time between school and Real Life[tm]. For many people, this period can last up to ten or fifteen years!

You may think you've lost school, but one day when you least expect it, school will attack you in a dark alley and knife you in the back.

Most probably the rest of my life, if I choose a path that leads me to a position as a researcher at a university. For example, the only place where an astronomers are needed are universities. They have very little chance of getting a job that suits their experience and education anywhere else.

Yes, you could grow a beard and become the next Esko Valtaoja...

I'm afraid of Matti Vanhanen.

Nothing wrong at all, I respect him and his opinions. I thought the book he won the Tieto-Finlandia for was highly engaging and thought-provoking.
