1. Yes! Finally it's here. I had to travel through 1/4th of the Netherlands in a bus yesterday because the train didn't work, and I loved every minute of it because of the beautiful sunshine.

2. Yes. I work four days a week, and when I have to do overtime I could just as well have chosen to work full time. So I want to be payed for overtime. My job does not pay overtime, so I don't work overtime.

3. Thanks to my fantastic physical condition I haven't been on vacation in years. But this year, I am sort of planning a 'vacation'. A friend is coming over from Switzerland.

By vacation, I mean taking time off work (regardelss of how physically fit you are), either traveling somewhere nice, or staying home to decompress, or staying home to accept guests. It's all about mental fitness to me.

I have 5 weeks off paid vacation per year, but so far this year, I've made no plans. I need to.

1. I'm currently not working and in the process of job hunting so you could say this is my time off from work.

2. In two weeks I'll fly up to San Francisco for ten days to visit two of my best friends, and to hang out at my oldest sister's and family in Walnut Creek and eat as much free food as I can and do some gaming with my niece and nephew. And, umm ... ... I'll also be meeting that indie filmmaker to hang with and go tiki bar hopping with. He's a sweetie.

3. Shit no! I'm not one of those dumb ass Americans who work their asses off and end up having nervous breakdowns just 'cause they have to have the latest material craps, iPods, cars, iPhones, and PS3. I value my sanity and spirit. Even if I couldn't afford to travel I would take a week, two weeks off to recoup and just stay home and chill and even go out and rediscover my neighbourhood, my city, and all the culture they offer. After all, one should work to live, not live to work.

1. You just reminded me to have a glass of wine. I'll do after I finish my dinner.

2. Martini FTW!!! Vodka (or gin if I'm feeling evil), the tiniest amount of vermouth, and ideally a bleu cheese stuffed olive, served in a glass that was chilled to within an inch of its life.

I'm very curious to these cultural differences! I think we will have a good time together.

I feel compelled to answer your questions, so here goes:

1. I planned time off from work because my friend is coming over from Switzerland. That's only for a few days, so I still have many hours left to do whatever I feel like.

2. Usually I visit friends or family or I stay home to enjoy the weather.

3. Yes. I like my work though I'm certainly not a workoholic. But I'm not much of a vacation-goer and I'd rather go to work then on a long trip, or take a long time off.
