  1. Sure, that sounds awesome.
  2. I can imagine joining if all my real-life friends joined. But even in that scenario, most likely not. I don't want to get addicted.
  3. Biblical times, I guess. It would be cool to be able to jump back and forth between biblical times and the modern day in the same location. I'd actually prefer an entire game of that than just putting in mysteries.
Very creative questions, Lee.

1. I probably should, and yet I always score the same thing on it, so I believe it's accurate, though it doesn't tell you anything new.
2. Never.
3. I've never taken the test for an employer, only for a co-op program in university, so I never had any motivation to "cheat".

  1. Oh yes. And a strange one, too.
  2. Do you mean "ideal" as in the perfect role model or "your ideal" as in the perfect spouse/date? My answer to the former would be a person who blocks out the real world with nearly-100% success, but without leeching off anyone else in the process. My answer to the latter would be "a woman who's exactly like me in every way".
  3. No. I'm not sure what that "lol" was supposed to signify. It looks like a great game, but I suspect that if I ever got myself into an MMO I'd never leave. So I stay far away.

  1. How careful are you to not say the wrong thing in casual conversation?
  2. What would you do if a friend of yours was very depressed, and showed no signs of getting better despite medication?
  3. Do you have friends who you consider to be better people than you are?

The lol was because it was a bit of a random question. I play myself now and then it's good but gets boring.

1. As there aren't really any people precisely like me, I find that any person agreeing with me is a pleasant surprise.
2. These days, it seems to be the latter. Before I got all caught up in being a responsible little biot, I didn't really try too hard to get people to do things my way. I just tried not to get into any situation where I couldn't walk away before anything that made me unhappy was forced on me.
3. I'd tell you, but then I'd be slapped, and I'm not feeling masochistic today. So instead I'll just say clean hair.

1. I think the Myers Briggs Type Indicator is the most accurate personality test I've ever come across. That said, I think employers shouldn't be allowed to use it to screen employees, no matter how ethical they may be in its use. No one is precisely the same as anyone else, and deciding that only certain personality types can perform certain tasks is baseless nonsense (although there are a few careers that I do believe require certain personality types to excel with ease).
2. The very first time I discovered the MBTI, I was almost afraid of how uncanny the result was. Not a 100% match, but so close that the difference really doesn't matter much. Since then, the result is always the same, no matter how different the questions are from the previous one.
3. I never lie on personality tests. Not even for fun. My sense of self is too strong to fudge details. If someone doesn't want me based on my personality type, I don't want them, either.

1. No, but they do periodically decide they want to sing karaoke.
2. No, but my sister's current boyfriend is Serbian, and takes part in a soccer tournament on Christmas day.
3. A little, but this year wasn't too bad, comparatively. I was more worried about Dawn. She tends to feel uncomfortable around my family, because they drink, sometimes to excess, on holidays.

1. I'm a short man with bipolar disorder, so I have personality traits that have definitely been affected by my DNA. that said, I believe the split is at very least 50% in favour of environment over genetics, and probably more than that. We make ourselves who we are, despite genetic disposition.
2. I don't think there is such a thing as 'the worst movie'. That said, I really didn't like LXG. That was horribly disappointing.
3. I'm not a cheesecake aficionado. I like cheesecake, but I'm not fussy about flavour, so long as it's not too sweet.

1. Yes, I wear a somewhat incomplete goatee, thanks to some Native North American blood that keeps me from growing a full beard.
2. I used to believe there was someone ideal for me. I've met a number who were so close but still didn't stay with me, so I gave up on the notion. These days, 'ideal' is anyone who loves me just as I am.
3. Yes, sporadically. I have a level 80 Dwarven Discipline/Holy Priest and a level 70 Tauren Feral Druid, amongst others. I don't take the game too seriously, but I'm a pretty good tank and an adequate healer.

1. I sometimes stick my foot in it, but I'm pretty good at clearing up my messes. That said, I do try to curb my more antagonistic impulses and try to make nice with people as much as possible, simply because I'm not very confrontational unless intensely provoked.
2. I'd suggest they talk to their therapist and get their prescription changed, and possibly start doing talk therapy. Barring that, I'd advise them to start cutting out things that make them unhappy and start focussing on things that are important to their self-esteem.
3. Not precisely, though I do admire certain of my friends immensely and wish I could do some of the things they do, or live the way they do. So, respect and envy, but not to the extent that I wish I were more like them. I just wish I could fit some of the things into my life that they do in theirs. And there are one or two friends I outright covet, but that's another matter.

1. I'd discuss the idea with said partner first, especially if the tight budget affects hir as well as you. Also, depending on the gift in question, I'd scour Craigslist or eBay for a good deal.
2. Probably the latter, or cook one of my own invented recipes.
3. If we're talking performers rather than composers, then probably Frank Sinatra.

1. Generally, what are you more sure about: what you want, or what you don't want?
2. Are you curious about the kinds of things people say about you behind your back, or would you just rather not know?
3. What kind of character do you prefer playing in a game: one who is just like you (if not you yourself), or one who's nothing like you at all?

1. Both really they sort of reflect each other. What I want is usually the opposite to what I don't want! I don't like to rule things out at all but at the same time I follow the things in life that interest me the most and really strive to envelop myself in them.
2. I'd definitely be curious just because from my own experience I've not seemed to have many enemies. I bet there were a few wolves in sheeps clothing though.
3. Tough question. I suppose it depends what role the character has in the game and its story. If they're a voiceless avatar such as Gordon Freeman or Chell then I don't think it matters hugely how similar they are to you but if it's someone like Niko Bellic or Jade where their personalities have a tangible effect on the unfolding story then I wouldn't like to subsitute myself for them because it's their story and I think that's much more interesting than playing like or as myself.

1. It makes me somewhat sad and baffled that people attempt such things, particularly when they can potentially cause harm. I've always been a RTFM kinda gal.
2. I try not to tell people what they should or shouldn't do unless they specifically ask my opinion.
3. Because I started this thread, and I like to finish the things I start.

1. What I want, though I'm not always upfront about what it is, owing to my uncertainty as to whether I deserve it, and also whether admitting wanting it will or won't endanger the likelihood of me getting it.
2. I really don't care. I think I did when I was younger, but these days, I just assume people will think what they like, and it won't affect my life one way or another. My success and happiness are not predicated on whether lots of people like me or not.
3. I generally prefer playing characters that aren't entirely unlike me, but are different enough that I don't feel like it's too close but not correct.

1. I think people are allowed to speak their minds, whether they are the greatest living expert on Julius and Ethel Rosenberg or just someone with Google and Wikipedia at their side. I think it's only really important to have your facts straight when you profess to be telling the 100% unvarnished truth, and anyone who entertains that conceit gets what they deserve.
2. Write about whatever you like. Words are free and ideas want to be shared. Communication is pretty much the only thing we have that can make us better and more responsible human beings. Only through hearing others' points of views can we grow and learn acceptance.
3. Mainly to entertain Squinky, but occasionally, just to throw you nice people a curve ball with my amazing simulation of brutal self-analysis and frankness. And to slip in little comments about masturbation, of course.

1. Back masking is an amusing subject, but in truth, I've never actually believed in it. That said, I seem to remember a Bloom County gag that referenced a comedic example from some fairly innocuous example like Barry Manilow or Juice Newton, because Berke Breathed liked funny names and weird paradoxes.
2. Yes, though I usually figure it out before anyone sees. Still, i think there was one incident when I was a child, but the details are hazy.
3. Not that I know of. Did I miss something?

1. No, but I've had "Sugar Town" stuck in my head for the past day or so.
2. Is Every Day The Same Dream accessible? That's the most recent game I've played.
3. I haven't, but I can't speak for anyone else here.

***

1. In your opinion, what does it mean for a game to be accessible? For instance, does it just need to be easy to learn to play, or does it also need to be easy to finish?
2. How different does someone have to be from you for you not to have empathy for them? (Please note that having empathy for a person is not the same as liking them.)
3. How similar does someone have to be to you for you to be able to feel like you can speak for them?

2. Not really. I mostly found it weird. (Though I did smile at the cow bit.) The gameplay, such as it is, is uncomplicated, but I'd rather not call the game itself accessible.

1. "A minute to learn - a lifetime to master" is a slogan written on the box of a board game called Othello. (I've seen a computer version of it called Reversi.) That's very accessible in one sense of the word, and ideal for that kind of game. Not a great concept for an adventure game. (Or any game with a plot that matters, I think. Those should be finishable without the need for mastery.*) But maybe the basic idea of simple rules that can be used in more complex ways can be applied to most kinds of games. It certainly seems to feature in games praised for their gameplay.

* On the other hand, you don't have to master a board game to be able to finish it either. You only have to know the rules and play against someone not too distant from your skill level in order to have fun playing the game to the end.

2. I don't know. I'd like to think that I'd be able to have empathy for anyone, but if tested, that probably wouldn't hold true.

3. That's the wrong question. It's not a matter of similarity, but a matter of how well I know the person.

2. Yes, it makes the world beautiful. But after a while it bores me. It's disappearing fast now, luckily.

  1. I have no particular experiences telling me yes, so I say no.
  2. No. It drives me crazy sometimes.
  3. Hm. I'll have to go with "changing the spelling of my nickname". Not many three-year-olds do that. But I guess it depends on how you define "weird". My reasons were perfectly sensible, it's just weird for little kids to try to be sensible.

  1. If you knew you could make something great, and you also knew that you'd have to go through some depression to get there (because nothing great comes easy), would you go through with it?
  2. Where is the line between a healthy amount of stubbornness and flat-out insanity?
  3. If you knew that your friends wanted something of you, and you also knew that you wanted something different, would going with one or both of those two options make you feel guilty?

1. Of course. I'm pretty much already there.
2. Don't look at me; I didn't make the rules as to what constitutes sanity and what doesn't. That said, it's important for me to be driven to pursue my goals, but at the same time be open to new experiences.
3. Of course it would make me feel guilty. But what would hurt the most would be the knowledge that my friends don't understand me -- especially given that I'm very selective about who I truly befriend in the first place.

1. The Olympics are being held in your city; do you feel annoyed, excited, or indifferent?
2. What do you think of the iPad?
3. Who was the last fictional character you had a crush on?

1. I would be very annoyed. All the closed streets, the noise, the extra traffic... not for me.
2. I think nothing of it . But seriously, I can see that it's an interesting machine for many people who just want to mail and surf the web. However, I think Apple could have made the iPad much more interesting by adding a 'killer app' that makes it stand out against the competition.
3. Caris, from the book "World Without End" by Ken Follett.

1. The Olympics are being held in your city. Will you go and try to take photographs of famous people?
2. What would you like the iPad to be able to do?
3. Who was the last fictional character you witnessed being killed?
