I live in a country that's almost entirely below sea level.

Right. So much for my cartography skills. You might give me points just for knowing about it, though.

When it comes to Global Warming, overpopulation is the main issue. There are 300 million poeple in this country, alone. People literally "shack up", live together, marry one another, without a thought to the big picture, which is foolish.

I agree! That's why I live a solitary life. In my neighbourhood I'm known only as "The Hermit".

You've got me now; I've been printing out the pages of Thread must die! and lighting it up. No, the West is not be causing all of the overpopulation. China's population is though the roof, which is ironic because of their laws against having more than 1 or 2 children. India, Mexico, even Africa, despite war, are ticking off the numbers at all too fast a pace. But it's not just there either. Population growth is rampant over the place.

And last I heard, India's population is growing the fastest, although I could be wrong about this. Beautiful country though. |

The west isn't causing overpopulation period. I don't know how you can interpret having birth rates as low as 1.1 children per woman as in any way contributing to overpopulation.
And china isn't all that bad a problem either, their birth rate is something like 2.5 children per woman. And china's roof is very high, they've got a big house. Now the middle east, if anyone, they're trying very hard to spite you tree huggers. They've got birth rates as high as 6 children per woman. |

While reading a slashdot discussion on this, I realized what the solution to environmental problems is: turn everyone into nerds! For starters, make everyone tinker with their hardware, run linux, read sci fi, and play roleplaying games.
A few days ago, I was wondering, what if the world really did run out of oil? Would all those idiots driving SUVs ride elephants instead? I know that doesn't make sense(although it seemed kind of funny at the time), more likely china would send diplomatic teams to try to explain that you can use bicycles for general transportation. Just imagine the reaction of the americans hearing them. |

Does that mean it's now safe to invade Russia in the winter?

Why do we even need to prove global warming exists? We know we're altering the planet in extreme ways, we know we're wiping out many species, making that hole in the ozone layer, using up vast quantities of resources and breeding out of control, do we need to be sure we're going so far as flooding the whole world?

"Shacking up" (which is a term that makes living together sound like a lot more fun than it actually is) and getting married are not causing the problem of overpopulation, habits that develop after cohabitation are.

Now listen to this disclaimer.
I am not in any way trying to 'stir the pot' but want to show folks some things that do not get shown regularly on TV due to the fact they have no shock value. Global Warming is Lies Great Global Warming Swindle You know this is starting to remind me of the great dust scare at the turn of the century where everyone had to get a vacuum. Well, it also falls under the heading of the powerful Antimicrobial Freak out of this past decade. Okay here is where I say Nazi and kill the conversation. |
