The Home Brew part is the bit I'm hoping will save me money. I didn't go for one of the cheap kits though. As you say, cheap can be bad sometimes.

EDIT. Actually I like Step Stout as well but, since I'm not brewing Stout, it seems somehow inappropriate.

My combi microwave oven just 'ended with a bang'. There was a flash of light from the kitchen and a loud bang, and then the kitchen fuse blew. I unplugged the oven and got the electricity in the kitchen working again, but I don't dare to plug the oven back in. So I will go and buy a new one tomorrow. There goes my vacation money

Splurging is relative to available cash I think.

Hehe... I think he bought Pan's Labyrinth by accident... he thought the cover read: "Palin's Labyrinth".
It pales next to our Attenborough collection though.

I am the president of the Michael Palin fan club! I want him to have my baby!!!
(Heh, I make joke...) No, I'm just buying it all up now because some of it is only now coming into availability on DVD and am picking up the rest as long as I am. I've always loved this documentaries and have been getting into many lately, including Attenboroughs stuff. The thing I love about Attenborough is that he can jump to another place on the planet to finish a sentence. You just know that took a lot of planning. I can't wait to dig into Planet Earth. I do like Palin's Full Circle episode when he partakes in a lumberjack related celebration in Vancouver B.C., looks in the camera and says something along the lines of "I may now have to pay for a lumberjack song I did long ago..." ObSplurge along the lines of the microwave replacement (not a luxury): paying off the credit card to once again be debt free. Ah, so nice. Speck ps: I secretly wish that I was a videographer involved in traveling the world making those documentaries. I know it wouldn't always be fun, but I believe it would be rich in experience. |

When I wanted to switch on my el cheapo 'energy saving' lightbulb I noticed it was broken. So my oven wasn't the thing that made the bang, but the lightbulb! I plugged the oven back in and it's working as always. I'm happy! I don't need to spend money on a new oven!

My husband and I watched all of the Planet Earth specials, they were great. I think my favorite was the one about the caves, that one was breath taking.
The Pan's Labyrinth, is this the new movie that is coming out/ already out or it something else? If it is the new movie please do tell me about it. I can't wait to see it.

Pan's Labyrinth is a newly released DVD of the Spanish film that came out last year. I watched it last night--it's great.

Considering about the only decent thing a microwave makes is popcorn, I'm not sure how much of a luxury it should be considered as.

If I can use the microwave instead of the stove that also saves me time this is also a luxury. I also don't have to use the stove and heat up the house unnecessarily.

I've lived without one for a decade. *shrug* I don't need one. I never have. It wouldn't be a luxury if I got one, it would be a minor convenience.
