I've bought a hat. A Stetson felt hat.

It's not as precise as the mouse, although that could just be because I'm not used to it, although it kind of feels better not having to move my entire arm when using it. The lack of a scroll wheel and middle button on it is annoying. I got a button to work as button 3, now it's useable.

^ That thing is awesome. It takes a little practice and yeah, I too miss the scroll wheel, but it is an excellent trackball. I still like high sensitivity mice more but for tight places and laptop use, it can't be beat. I think I might try out a thumb operated one soon though. Enjoy.

Tower Records is going out of business so they have everything on sale. I stopped by and picked up Lost - Season 2. :)

I also bought Sarah McLachlan's new Christmas album - Wintersong. I had to listen to it right away. It's incredible. She's my favorite female singer and does a cover of River (my favorite Joni Mitchell song - I can think of no one better to cover it than her) and a cover of Song For A Winter's Night (a wonderful Gordon Lightfoot song). I love, love this album. :) The other Christmas songs on there are done with her special touch and are terrific.

I've gotten used to it by now. I don't mind the lack of a scroll wheel on it anymore, scroll wheel emulation works well, better than an actual scroll wheel since now I have side scrolling as well, and the rare cases that I need to use a scroll wheel one step at a time aren't a problem either since I have my old mouse set up left handedly.

I've given in to temptation and ordered "From Hell". I've been drooling over this trick for months, and now that they've launched a new edition I couldn't hold out any longer.

Now don't the rest of you go ordering it!

RLacey 11-16-2006 04:13 AM

I've had a post-birthday splurge, preordering a box set of the first four seasons of Monk, ordering the complete Jeeves & Wooster TV series (Hugh Laurie!) and grabbing Stubbs the Zombie. That and spending £2.99 on 11 rubbish games including another copy of The Watchmaker .

samIamsad 11-16-2006 05:47 AM

You're a sick puppy, Robert. ;)

Trumgottist 11-16-2006 12:14 PM

Yay Jeeves and Wooster!

Giligan 11-16-2006 12:33 PM

Just got my copy of Splinter Cell: Checkmate on Amazon.

LeisureSuitedLooney 11-19-2006 09:47 AM

my BIG expense this month was last night...the Nintendo Wii!!! Went to the midnight launch, then rushed it home to play. Was up til about 2, then woke up before 7, lol. My other splurge (not "spooge", for the guy who claimed this thread was dirty a few pages ago, lol) was my sister's birthday gift.

Stoofa 11-19-2006 09:52 AM

I bought some beautiful Christmas ornaments, some make-up, and some sweaters last week. Now I need a Christmas tree. I really want a silver Christmas tree, is that too tacky? Or maybe a white one would be better? I'm not crazy about traditional trees. What I'd really like is a hardwood Christmas tree, like a birch tree. I think that could be beautiful but I have no idea how to get one or if it would rot or what.

I don't think it would be tacky. :) This guy doesn't think so either.

Aluminum christmass trees?!? What is it with these crazy overclockers and their need to have everything made out of aluminum?

Melanie68 11-19-2006 03:22 PM

Why do you care what kind of tree Stoofa wants?

undeaf 11-19-2006 03:45 PM

The problems arrise when one of those overclockers starts going on and on with claims that their aluminum christmass tree/computer case/toilet/whatever is better because it conducts heat more. And next they'll be making copper christmass trees!!

Melanie68 11-19-2006 03:48 PM

1. WTF is an overclocker?

2. You seem to be looking for an argument where there is none. :shifty: No one has made any of the claims you are purporting so why start talking about them unless they come up. I'm done.

undeaf 11-19-2006 03:54 PM

An overclocker is a game obsessed addolescent male with 90%-destroyed eardrums who tries to make his computer run 3 frames per second faster by making it consume more electricity and produce more heat than the average stove.

Lovely! I like vintage ornaments a lot so I think that a silver pom pom tree would go really well with them.

Er, I'm a 28 year old female. I'm not interested in overclocking my CPU, I like to play Tamagotchi Connection Corner and Mario Kart for God's sake. I don't have Bill Nye the Science Guy motives for wanting a silver Christmas tree. I just want it to look pretty and make me happy.

Jelena 11-20-2006 08:58 AM

This year we won't have a Christmas tree since we're going away. But I've had plans to get new decorations for the Christmas tree. All in silver or all in gold. That would be really cool. I'd still keep a traditional real tree though.

Trumgottist 11-20-2006 02:08 PM

A juniper bush is a good alternative. Due to lack of space, that's what we've had the last years. It's thicker and greener than a fir, and looks quite good.

I know that. You're not the reason those things exist, so I see nothing wrong with making wild accusations at whover else it might be aimed at. If I thought otherwise I would have said "you overclockers". Watch out that the aluminum christmass tree you buy doesn't have a bunch of cold cathode lights built in.

I finally bought a pair of new jeans, ones that fit well. For the past three or four weekends I've gone to the store to try on jeans, but couldn't find quite the right pair, but today I did. Levi 514s, 31w 30l. They have a slight wash on the front. They fit real nice, and aren't baggy on the ass like all my other pairs.

Jelena 03-30-2007 12:32 PM

I had this huge desire to buy a pair of new shoes since it's finally spring in the air.
Yesterday was a girls night out on town. In other words, a let's keep the stores open until 9.00pm and make all the girls and women shop away like crazy-night. It worked. ;)
I got these:

*green with envy*

Those shoes are so cute. I love them :D

Sage 03-30-2007 06:41 PM

I'm taking Mom to Reno to celebrate her retirement and so she and BF can finally meet face-to-face. :)

This oughtta be fun.

Not A Speck Of Cereal 03-30-2007 06:57 PM

This spring I won't be buying any new guitars because my ~$500 60k car maintanence ended up costing $1,600. Ooooo, those factory service guys know their game!

But I did buy a new flash for my camera. That makes three and all can serve as an IR (wireless) slave flash, so I can do some interesting tri-point photography.

lumi 03-30-2007 07:05 PM

I bought some sample bottles of fragrances since I'm looking for a summer scent suitable for the office and day life: The Third Man by Caron, Unforgivable by Sean Jean, Millesime Imperial by Creed, and Bvlgari Aqva by Bvlgari. Still haven't arrived, though.

Trader 03-31-2007 10:40 AM

Did a trade in on My Holden Astra for a Holden Cruze, loving it.

jacog 03-31-2007 11:21 AM

Just bought Neverwinter Nights 2 but have found the system requirements to be worse than Oblivion, which we have tweaked to be quite playable. Considering the BIG splurge. Perhaps I am just looking for an excuse to upgrade anyway. Maybe I should ask Stoofa to overclock our PC... :P

I understand perfectly! I bought an NVIDIA 6200 card and found out I need at least a 6800

LeisureSuitedLooney 03-31-2007 02:06 PM

I have a 6800 in my PC, but I'm thinking of upgrading it when I upgrade my RAM. That reminds me, I need to go buy some 2 GB memory for my PC at some point soon!! My games lag so much, it's like watching a slideshow, lol.

Panthera 04-02-2007 08:09 AM

So during these last two weeks, I've bought a lot of dvds, plus finally got the two Disney Treasures dvd's I bought from Amazon..

Platekompaniet.no (record and dvd shop) had a big sale, so we bought:
Mine:
Legally Blond
Mean Girls - Special Collectors Edition
Monty Python's Meaning of Life - Special 2 Disc Edition
War of the Worlds - Special 2 Disc Edition
Fantastic Four - Special 2 Disc Edition
Hellboy - Special Edition
West Side Story - Special Edition
The Iron Giant - Special Edition
The Sword in the Stone
Oliver & Company

His:
Pulp Fiction - Special 2 Disc Edition
American Beauty
This cost about 100$, which is very cheap for dvds in Norway, but not compared with the US..
Oh and I also bought Alice in Wonderland - Special Edition

I also finally got my Treasures DVDs as I said:
The Complete Pluto vol 1 and 2

and we've also bought quite a few tv-series:
CSI Season One Ep. 1.1-1.12 and CSI Season One Ep. 1.13-1.23
House M.D. Season One
Monk Season One

A-Team Season one and Three
and a DVD Collection called:
"150 Cartoon Classics"

I've had a couple of nice, and increasingly large splurges recently. I can safely say to everyone, retail therapy cures all ills.

Firstly, I decided as summer was approaching I needed a new pair of sunglasses, so I bought a pair of classic Ray-Ban Aviators. I went for a black frame and black lens combination, instead of a metallic/mirrored look.
http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/8319/raybanob4.jpg

Secondly, I decided I needed a new wallet. I'd had my old one for a few years and it was time for a replacement. So I just had a Louis Vuitton wallet flown in from Paris. What I love about it, is it's so understated. A lot of Louis Vuitton products are emblazoned with the logo, but this just has a simple monogram in the corner. (Of course, now I have the urge to go out and buy more things, just so I can use it, hehe.)

I too picked up some new shades recently to replace the pair I had for 8 years (and bought in Rome). It was a stupid mistake to lose them.

Also, as a public service message, I want to warn you all to keep the plastic in your wallet while inebriated. Last night, I ordered one of these:

Ooh, "a veritable cornucopia of techno-appeal"!

I've been splurging WAY too much lately on books and software from various places. Just one of those phases. Trying to rein it in now, and I've just managed to stop myself from placing an order with Merchant of Magic. It was a struggle, though. I really really want an Assassin Pouch.

Dasilva 04-12-2007 09:02 AM

I got the new Avril Lavigne single, lovin it:
