Who is your perfect presidential candidate?

Seeing as US Presidents like to think of themselves as the leaders of the free world, despite not being accountable to the majority of it, we might as well know whose the most compatible US President to our own views.

Select Smart has a good list of policies for you to agree with or disagree with and it'll give you the most compatible presidential candidate from most of those currently standing plus all the democrat hopefuls:
http://www.selectsmart.com/president/

For me:
Quote:

1. Your ideal theoretical candidate. (100%) Click here for info
2. Green Party Candidate (76%)
3. Socialist Candidate (70%)
4. Kucinich, Rep. Dennis, OH - Democrat (69%)
5. Sharpton, Reverend Al - Democrat (68%)
6. Dean, Gov. Howard, VT - Democrat (67%)
7. Clark, Retired General Wesley K., AR - Democrat (67%)
8. Moseley-Braun, Former Senator Carol, IL - Democrat (58%)
9. Kerry, Senator John, MA - Democrat (57%)
10. Edwards, Senator John, NC - Democrat (55%)
11. LaRouche, Lyndon H. Jr. - Democrat (54%)
12. Gephardt, Rep. Dick, MO - Democrat (47%)
13. Libertarian Candidate (35%)
14. Lieberman, Senator Joe, CT - Democrat (35%)
15. Bush, President George W. - Republican (22%)
16. Phillips, Howard - Constitution (15%)
17. Hagelin, Dr. John - Natural Law (10%)
Certain Irony that all the democrats scored higher than Bush for me, as I'm centre right in my politics. Is he that extreme? :D

Anyway, go Ralph Nader! If you were a woman we'd be a perfect match I imagine hehe

The scary thing is that I'd set myself on fire before I'd vote for Sharpton. I guess it's Dean for me.

Starflux 01-17-2004 01:30 PM

It is futile; the US will never allow Europe to vote alongside them, even though it would greatly benefit the feeling of "one big world". And besides, we've got our own fish to fry :) Getting Balkenende out of office, for instance ;)

Who's number 15 on your lists? Never heard of him.

I started reading question 1 but it sounded too much like a party political broadcast on behalf of every party. So I lost interest.

How amusing... my top rated candidate was Dennis Kucinich. It's funny because I was running a camera when we broadcast his visit to UCSC, so he's the only candidate I've actually seen speak in person. Nice guy, good ideas, but he doesn't have a prayer come electiontime :)

MeddlingMonk 01-17-2004 11:38 PM

I'm a little disturbed to find Sharpton coming in at #2. What could possibly be wrong with me? Don't answer. The forum server would crash under the load. :P

Actually, my ideal is William Henry Harrison.

Good idea, but not within the next two years please. I've seen enough elections for now.

Agreed... but unlike Erwin, he may take his belongings today for me! ;)

It's too bad that none of the Democrat candidates are particularly charismatic. Let's face it, if you don't have as much money as your opponent, you're need to be made-for-TV. Kucinich is a very charming guy, but not charismatic. He's too quiet and friendly. Howard Dean scares me. Al Sharpton makes me laugh. Wesley Clark is clumsy, almost like he's deliberately mocking himself. I think John Edwards is actually the only one with some charisma, but this is cancelled out by me being totally neutral towards what he has to say.

Oh, and I hate Joe Lieberman, especially after the things he said about video games, so the test got that right.

Firefoot 01-18-2004 08:12 AM

I've done the test (roughly) and the list starts with Democrats... and George W is on #11, the for last position... :)

I must admit, I was very surprised when I noticed something in this thread. All of us have rated to the left. Unless this is a fault of the website or it is propaganda, what kind of trend is that? In the last elections, and up until now, about 50% of America has supported Bush. Yet everyone I know (becuase I live in New York City), and all of us, are against Bush. Is it something about intelligent web users? Or adventure gamers? Any comments as to why we are all liberal? And does everyone you know (within the US) hate Bush?

There was one candidate that wasn't listed. Why choose the lesser evil???

Only about 50% of us actually voted, so in reality, Bush didn't even get 25% of the population to approve of him since Gore actually beat him on votes. I have a feeling that a greater portion of the 50% of non-voters are actually democratic in ideology, but I could be wrong. It IS weird that there are no republican respondents yet.
