Two hours? You must've looked like a pale prune after that.

Kind of. But the sheer awesomeness always makes up for that. There's really nothing as relaxing as lying in the tub, reading a book or magazine,........ until someone's knocking on the door telling you to get the hell out of there because you've been occupying the bath room for like an eternity. They...just...don't..understand!

Why, thank you Sir!
In describing yourself you have also described me, except that my hair is (still mostly) black.
I've been reading your posts for a while now, and may I just say that I like your style, buddy!

One thing that boggles me is the use of boilers. I was visiting a friend in Boston once and his apartment was heated by a boiler. I didn't know this and had never accounted a boiler heated home before and so burned the palm of my hand on this one large piller in the bathroom by the bathtub that was really a pipe carrying boiling hot water. The radiators hissed and make scary noises at night.

Ah, I see what's the problem is we have here. There's less and less people being taught traditional Alltami.

You ask what Alltami is? Why, the "Ancient art of being able to balance the hot and cold shower taps.", of course!

*raises a hand*

Now show me my monkey!

I oppose the licence fee in principle, but really, £130 p.a. is pittance, so it's not worth getting annoyed over.

About these taps, that's a joke. Isn't it? They're completely made up. Aren't they? How impractical is that? Surely they aren't the standard thing every household has over there. Or are they? And that a place as sophisticated as Oxford University has these, that's unthinkable. Isn't it?!???

Bloody hell!

The BBC has more than 5 channels, but only 2 are on analogue TV. BBC1, BBC2, BBC3, BBC4, Cbeebies, CBBC, BBC News 24, BBC Parliament, etc. The licence fee doesn't pay for anything except the BBC channels though. ITV, Channel4 and 5 are all paid for by adverts.

Freeview (http://www.freeview.co.uk/) is free digital TV and for a one-off fee to but the set-top-box (typically about 40 quid) then you get BBC1-4, ITV1-4, ITV play, c4, e4, c4+1, more4, film4, 5, Sky3, UKTV History, Ftn, abc1, CBBC, Cbeebies, CITV, and some more crap that I can't be bothered copying from that website...

A tap like this is in the house were my mother grew up. It's not replaced since it still works and the house is only used in the summer. Really inconveniant though in my opinion.

Technically, couldn't you solve the problem by just attaching a pipe with each end connected to each faucet, with a faucet in the middle? Granted, it would be a lot of work, but well worth it if the dual faucets bother a person.

I've always found cute the differences between American colloquialisms and British ones. When I was in London years back I would occasionally get something for 'take away', which is the equivalent of 'to go' here in the States.

One time I was in line at the cafeteria at the polytechnic in Enfield where was studying for the summer, and the nice young fellow with that knee-weakening accent serving us offered me a 'jacket potato'. I immediately thought of the little brown spuds wearing beautifully tailored Harris tweed blazers and looking incredibly swank, then I realized he meant baked potato still in its skin. I said, "Okay, thanks."
