If you ask me neither of them is worth the disc they are burned on.

Although Pink Floyd and Nine Inch Nails do have their moments but I haven't listened to them for ages so I don't remember which songs are featured on which album. Wolfmother is pretty good though. Here are three hot new releases that really rules (according to me).

Mastodon - Blood Mountain
AFI - Decemberunderground
Blind Guardian - A Twist in the Myth

Blind Guardian's new album is indeed really good. I found Iron Maiden's new album to be a dissapointment.

Apparently Hammerite is doing some catching up on the classics. Can't go wrong with the White Pony. But then, "My own summer" is on Around The Fur. Killer.

PS: I like AFI's "Sing the sorrow" even more than their new one.

I didn't really have high hopes for the new Maiden album to be honest, and now that I listened to it I don't rate it as one of their best. I was pleasantly suprised with Guardians latest since I thought that A Night at the Opera had some flaws.

I agree. I rate it as one of their best albums along with Black Sails in the Sunset.

I did, after there briljant Dance Of Death, but this just doesn't cut it. ANatO was pretty good, but the songs where too long. This doesn't have that.

i'm not going to go song-by-song. i'll try and mention highlights.

white pony pretty much rips through your speakers and tears everything else away from the minute you stick it into the player until you take it out. it /does/ mellow out from time to time, but mostly it's loud. it's got some /very/ good songs on it, but it's one of those records where you either need to hear it with the volume turned up, or not at all.

probably the best thing about "white pony" is the balled with maynard james keenan, "passenger." it's far mellower than the rest of the album, but it is, easily, the closest that deftones come to sounding like a progressive-guitar band. i don't own any other deftones, and i hear they slowed down for this record.

downward spiral is a concept album. it's /very/ difficult to pick individual tracks that are standouts, but the two ballads pretty much mark the album ["a warm place" and "hurt"] - around those two songs, the music is all violently noisy, culminating in "march of the pigs." trent reznor does some disturbing things to guitars and the programming and sequencing [even today] is pretty amazing.

the lyrics...well, you may find that you take them or leave them. they're pretty bleak. [it is, after all, an album about being on the way to committing suicide.]

if you own no other nine inch nails, this is the one to get.

i hope this is helpful

I must also recommend Hurts' debutalbum Vol 1. I think it's really great.

It's good, I prefer Around the Fur by a long way, which was darker, smoother, and more sexy.

Nine Inch Nails - Downward Spiral
One of the best albums ever, and NIN's best album. The album has Mr. Self-Destruct, Heresy, Closer, Reptile and Hurt, the range is incredible.

Nirvana - Bleach
Not that good, I don't think it's worth it, Nirvana did a heck of a lot of great stuff, this aint it.

Pink Floyd - Meddle
Great, it's not the best Pink Floyd album, but I think Fearless is just cool.
