Very Random Question
Does anyone know where this quote originated and what the non-mangled version is?
It's referring to narrative, and goes along these lines; "If there is a gun on the table in the first act, it should be fired in the third."

I do know how to use Google, but in this case I was already familiar with Anton Chekhov's maxim. ...OK, mostly because I'm a Babylon 5 and a Harry Potter fan (two series which tend to heavily use the concept). Peace & Luv, Liz

Sorry, I can't shoot you. I'd have to go back in time and put the gun on the wall in the first act. Otherwise we'd end up with a convenient deus ex machina instead.
