How about naming them after the muses?
I always liked "Calliope", the muse of epic poetry. They are as follows: * Calliope (Chief of the muses and muse of epic poetry) * Euterpe (music/lyric poetry) * Clio (history and historical/heroic poetry) * Erato (lyrics/love poetry) * Melpomene (tragedy) * Polyhymnia (hymns and sacred poetry) * Terpsichore (dance and choral song) * Thalia (comedy) * Urania (astronomy) -

Well if you choose Meche you'll have to sing the name like Manny Calavera does when he sits by the piano at his club.

I think Meche is the best of the five names you have in the "finalist" category.

All right, I have the hammer and chisel in hand. The final name will be....
ATLAS I figure it has a nice ring to it, it meets my criteria, and figuratively it makes sense. Atlas had the weight of the world on his shoulders (if my greek myth servers me right. correct me if i'm wrong) and this server will carry the weight of the company on it's back. Not only will it be our file server but also it was also be our domain controller, DHCP server, and DNS server. I personally would rather have used something like Meche or Deeon but that would have been for too selfish of reasons. Thank you to everyone for all your suggestions. The brainstorming was very helpful. ...bysmitty

Atlas works well - it's also the top vertebra where the spinal cord enters the cranium. The next one down is Axis, if you need a follow-up name - this is the rotating one that enables you to turn your head.
