They're going to get you Berlusconi...
I know this won't interest many but I just read some very good news on Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. Hes the one who was being taken to court for corruption and then changed the law to give him immunity, forcing the trial to be abandoned.
Well the constitutional court threw the law out and the trial can resume. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/3392973.stm I know many won't care and will be bored by this thread (sorry ) but I think this is very good news and it shows that the people can change things. And it gives me a grain of hope for the future of the EU too; perhaps things can change...

Well, I'm anything but bored by this. I think it's really great, as I hate tyrants (if anybody thinks I'm exaggerating, read more about this man), especially the ones hiding carrying the mask of democratic leaders.
(his name is Berlusconi, by the way)

This isn't boring news, but great news!
I mean, Berlusconi could soon (if not already) be considered a dictator in Italy, so this is a nice setback for him and a small victory for democracy. |

What amazes me is that 95% of the Italians on the street are totally pissed off about this guy, but it seems no one cares about impeaching him or whatever they call it over there (impechemento? ).

Greata news, bya tha way! And also in the news today - Dr Harold Shitman hanged himself. Good news for the British taxpayer (except now they'll have to pay for the inquiry into how it was allowed to happen ). Not so great news for all those wanting to hear just who exactly he did murder through his 20 years of working the area of Hyde - this will mean they will never have closure on the whole affair now. A very sad state of affairs indeed.

That's the kind of news people want to hear
It would even be better if they did a clean sweep in every country/state for corrupt politicians.. things would become better for the economy and the civilians would be much more happier with that. We in Belgium have a good parlieament "so they say" but the stuff that happens here on a political sight is shite, i could go on for hours about this..... what's the use, we can't change the world like we want.... the day i get the chance to wave belgium goodbye i will be the happiest man in the world, because this country depresses me, by the choices they make nato-wise and the choices they make to certain people that are tangled up in crimes where you can smell a politician ....................

Just the fact that they did not support a certain country in a certain war, What makes us faceless (imho) that's a shame.... The army itself is shite as well because of the bleu helmets 'soldiers' well you can't quite call them soldiers they are just sitting ducks like they where in Kosovo :s imagine that your friend gets shot in front of your eyes and you are not allowed to take a defensive stance, what's the whole point of that? for the rest i'm not going to go public on this remember this is a forum for games and not for political things... edit: glad i never signed in for that ...

I think the Belgian government shouldn't have chickened out of their international war crimes law just so the US wouldn't smite them...

Mussolini aka il dutche was a world war 2 companion from dolf. Berlusconi is the name of the man you where looking for. You think so?! i'm sure about that and the problem that came with it, was for a part in the econmical sight, company's that got beaten financially etc...... i'm in deep shame when i look back at that.... but it's not the civilians their fault ....

I thought too, that it was great news about Berlusconi getting treatment like every other citizen in Italy (which he is not really, just kinda). I saw people in the streets of Rome being interviewed and all but one elderly lady were happy that democracy was still in charge in Italy. There was one politician (a local one I believe) that collected signatures just in case the court would speak for Berlusconi being untouchable. It was said that no matter how many people he'd have got to sign the petition, a judge's word is worth 10 times more - speaking of democracy....
And it's Il Duce btw, spelling-wise it has nothing to do with the Dutch .

I just don't understand why people actually voted for him in the first place.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but doesn't the Belgium International Law Crimes make bleu-helmeted soldiers out of all soldiers. So how does it work rationally to be for the former and against the latter as this thread seems to promote? The vice-versa would be equally non-rational. Seems to me these two ideas live together or die together.

yep, indeed they are mostly bleu helmets (note: bleu helmets are no soldiers from the Nato/vn itself because they don't own an army).
I don't need to explain what their missions are; peacekeeping, give protection for humans 'victims of war/crime' Fine with that. But when you look back at what happened in Kosovo some years ago that was pointless. Placing containers as a wall between the good side of town and the opposite side of town filled with snipers waiting in the buildings, i know that Belgian bleu helmets died and dutch as well if not mistaken. that's the point where it's useless. some guys got shot in the head and the other soldiers (bleu helmets) where not allowed to form up for a tactical intervention Quote:
When the council or highest in position allows a counter attack, they have to swap their bleu baret/helmet for a green one to take some action it's called peace-enforcing but first things have to turn out worse before they do that. Quote:
Edit : Cool avatar you have by the way, it was my first adventure ever done and i still like that adventure.

Actually, it's 'Duce' that's the phonetic spelling, not 'Dutche'. 'Dutche' seems to be derived from English spelling, which is anything but phonetic.
