Default Rumors about the original Star Wars trilogy...

this following is from www.thedigitalbits.com

"Also today, The Force.net is reporting an interesting George Lucas quote in a new book that's been released. Interviewed for Robert J. Emery's The Directors: Take 4, Lucas reportedly says that when the original Star Wars Trilogy is released on DVD, he'll finally be able to release the films the way he originally intended. The site concludes that this confirms more changes to the original films as we've reported in the past. We'll just have to wait and see. September 2004's getting closer and closer every day."

Damn you Mr. Lucas...

Is it really so hard to release the original trilogy in it's ORIGINAL form

Does he really have to make the legendary trilogy even more crappier with new stupid ILM effects...

Just be glad he didn't get it into his head to 'improve' Indiana Jones too.

Perhaps he should start by re-releasing Episode 1 and 2 the way he 'originally intended'. There's more corrections to be done there. Does anyone even care about episode 3 now?

Star Wars 1 and 2 won't be appreciated for the next ten years. After that, it's gonna change. That's more or less what happened with the original Star Wars movies too. I mean, the older they got the more popular.

Yeah, that's what they said about Predator 2.

I read that for Indy IV they're gonna do as many effects the old fashion way as possible to try and make the fans happy.

Star Wars 1 and 2 will never be appreciated the same as the original trilogy. They have lacked both the humour and the strength of characters such as the older Ben Kanobi, Han Solo, Darth Vader, Princess Leia, etc, etc. I'm afraid they will never be held in the same regard.

As for that's what happened to the original Star Wars movies, I disagree with your comment that the originals got more popular - they never lost popularity. Star Wars was no cult classic, it was an instant Box Office hit (I should know, I remember queueing for ages to get in weeks after Star Wars release).

Star Wars originals = classics. Star Wars 1 and 2 = cashing in.

George Lucas has a hard job on his hands to bring the final film anywhere near the status of the originals. His only hope in my opinion is to aim the film at an older audience and try to rely on a much darker movie and use the characters as the central focus of the movie instead of the effects.

That's exactly how I feel.

the originals are classics. Lucas has lost his mind with special effects galore. I have a strong feeling that Ep3 will be just like Ep1&2...

I agree Episode 1 was only vaguely entertaining and basically a showreel for ILM.... but I really enjoyed nr 2. The dialogue was still in need of improvement and they again let the effects overwhelm the story, but it was at least a story that was interesting and the acting was actually good in a lot of parts. I'm looking forward to the third one. I've never been a really big fan of Star Wars, especially since my brothers are and they just watched it to death completely (with me usually in the same room for some reason or other) so that kind of ruined the originals for me... but I do enjoy the films.

He's already publicly said that he doesn't care what the public thinks and that all he cares about is whether he likes the movies, so I wouldn't count on episode 3 being any better.
