This is just sad.
Pluto is Pluto and not some frigging number!

Sad, sad scientists...

Okay, now they're just being silly. I can't imagine that anyone can remember those numbers. I am sure they'll at least still say "'134340'...Oh, right! That asteroid that used to be Pluto!"

I mean, nobody can be that intent on getting the point across.

There's a reason why people nickname such objects, because it's hard to remember different numbers. Of course, sometimes the numbers are more useful, as is the case with the at least six different comets called "Shoemaker-Levy". But of course, the numbers of those comets are much shorter.

You just know that everyone will continue to call it Pluto.

This is a dark hour, though.

What?! Why a rename? Why not simply an additional name for all I care?

._. This makes no sense to me.

*hugs Jazhara for comfort*

Scroll down for the "New Look" Solar System. Which still features Pluto...

DISCORDIANISM! Bwahahahaha!

Ahem, anyway. I think I like the idea of having 11 planets, too.

... oh, wait. *waits for someone to point out that this is a transition from 9 to 11, which... well, I'll leave the rest to you* :shifty: That is, of course, assuming, someone else here has a number fixation like I do.

But, really now - 11 is really neat numerologically anyway, so, three cheers from me. ;)

...I had a point to make somewhere, I think...

This is simply becoming entirely too confusing. First we had Pluto, now it seems we have the Asteroid Formerly known as Pluto, or "The Asteroid" for short.

Now Xena, which was never officially Xena anyway, has officially unofficially become Eris, and I don't know if I like that, dislike it, or am tempted to sneak into observatories at night on the off chance of discovering dwarf planet Guybrush.
