Default The opposite sex?

What qualities do you look for in a partner? What is the first thing that you notice about the opposite sex, their qualities that attracted you in the first place? Is it their eyes, brains, smile…. and so on……

I look at their habits first, mannerisms, the way they carry themselves.

to be honest, i dont usually look at ass or boobs first, but usually the face is more important, however personality/sense of humour is a must.

good looks + nastiness = sod off

I thought all guys look at tits and ass first thing...... I don’t think that I have ever heard of a guy that looks at the face first..... well I guess you learn something new everyday. Your right though personality is the key.... bad personality = someone that will waste your time.

It's been about 20 years since I met Christer and I've never looked at another guy since. But if I remember correctly I liked his looks and his sense of humour. He's a real clumsy person but that never bothered me. Then I know I loved his scent. I still do.

Awwww I miss him. He's working another week on Gotland.

Hopefully he will be home soon. I take one of Matt's (my DH) shirts and sleep in it while he is away. That always helps me.

I'm gay, so the opposite sex doesn't really interest me that much. COme to think of it, I don't have many female friends - must be because I'm studying technology.

Facial expression, body language, a modicum of pride in their appearance, obvious signs of an engaging personality, and an ability to enjoy themselves in my company. I prefer gals with generous curves, but smiles are essential.

I think it's the "opposite" part that's throwing some people off. Tricky to think of a more genarilsed way of saying it that won't sound clumsy though.

I look for a wedding ring that matches my own on a ladies finger. (Oh and a whole bunch of other features that would restrict that to my wife)

I'd have to say brain overall. I like a woman who can challenge me intellectually. It keeps life interesting if you can have proper discussions. It also helps that we have different specialised areas of knowledge so there always things each of us can show off about.

When I consider lowly physicality nice legs and a good arse are always nice. Also I've always had a thing for women in glasses for some reason. .

after some thought I am going to change the name to ideal partner. The topic is still what attracts you to "the person you like" meaning if your straight, gay, bi or what ever your cup of tea maybe tell us what you like about the person your with or hope to be with in the future.

I like people that can make me smile (surprisingly hard), that can put up with me making jokes about them to their face (something I have the annoying habit of doing around friends) and that can hold up a conversation. They have to have a fair degree of intelligence, too, though they're by no means required to have knowledge of the same things as me. That and they have to be prepared to deal with my regular bouts of self-loathing.

I'm far more interested in quirks of personality than physical appearance. In fact, the whole tits'n'ass thing holds no real appeal for me, and I find myself wondering on a fairly regular basis why they seem so important to others.

Of course, having never actually had a partner everything I write here is entirely irrelevant...

Now I remember why I don't post in these threads .

It's really not important.

Lacey always sells himself too short... you'll get used to it eventually, Bulldog. ;P

Anyhoo. Physically, I tend to notice a guy's face. Hair, eyes (and glasses, mmm), and smile mainly. An open, friendly face, a pleasant/sweet/sincere smile, and hair that isn't stuffed under a baseball cap are all rather attractive. Voice-wise, a bit of an accent is usually a good thing.

I don't tend to notice a guy's body much, weirdly, unless there's something obviously notable about it (he's really tall/short/skinny/fat/muscular/whatever). Though I do notice (and appreciate) if a guy is a classy dresser.

Personality-wise I like guys who are smart/geeky enough not to have their eyes glaze over when I talk ( ), are honest/sincere and good-hearted, and have a prominent sense of humor. I also have a weakness for guys who are creative, especially singers/musicians.

Peace & Luv, Liz

I find myself attracted to people who are kind to me, especially those who seem to go out of their way to do so.* I honestly don't care about looks; in fact, I often notice that I find people more physically attractive after I get to know and like them.

*And no, those creepy Mexican guys who whistle at me on my way to work don't count.

Lacey probly does sell him self short. "Most" nice guys do..... I'm not sure why though.

Anyway, it sounds like you and I have close to the same thoughts as to what we look for in a mate. I'm not to keen on a singer/ musicians, I had a bad experience with a singer/ musician (that in the thread worst date ever.) I like a man (my husband fits most of the qualities above) that can take me as me.... you know quirky sense of humor and all.

You mean all those guys who line every single corner in San Rafael waiting for work? The one time I was there doing the focus group thing for The Great Cow Race, I remember being blown away by the sheer number of them.

I'm not a nice person. I'm just an extremely flawed one. There's a difference between under-selling yourself to appear modest and under-selling yourself because it's what you believe.

With all this talk on musicians: anyone that hates music probably doesn't want to spend any time near me. Loving it isn't a necessity, but I tend to do a fair amount of music in terms of choirs and what-have-you, and someone that couldn't tolerate that wouldn't like me for very long.

Then again, that's a fairly moot point, because most of the people I meet I meet at choirs and other musical events .
