It is their atmosphere, the totality of all the parts converged, that attract me. That is how I distinguish them, I see each one individually, not as a type. That said, I can be (and have been) attracted to various kinds of men. I could easily be with a ponderous intellectual as much as I can be with a muscular yet sensitive construction worker or a playfully boyish hunky redhead.

I think it's because I have a strong sense of my own individuality that I can spot and admire that of another man or woman.

I look at their habits first, mannerisms, the way they carry themselves.

That is partly what I mean by atmosphere. Every little thing a person does is a clue to their psyche, their beliefs, their philosophy. A kind of vernacular of the self, intimated to me. When subtle, it sends little ripples. And when very potent it is a tidal wave.
